Texas Instruments (TI) announced the TPS65290 multi-mode power management unit. The TI PMU enables ultra-low, total system quiescent current as low as 100 nA, which minimizes power consumption. The device is ideal for battery-powered, microcontroller-based water and gas meters and other industrial applications. The TPS65290 is available now in a 24-pin, 4-mm x 5-mm, VQFN package. The suggested retail price is $1.75 in 1000-unit quantities.
Texas Instruments introduced the DRV8801-Q1, DRV8823-Q1, DRV8832-Q1 and DRV8301-Q1 automotive motor drivers. The DRV3202-Q1 is available in an HTQFP 80-pin package and is priced at $3.80 in 1,000-unit quantities. The DRV3201-Q1 is available in an HTQFP 64-pin package and is priced at $2.63 in 1,000-unit quantities. The DRV3204-Q1 and DRV3203-Q1 Grade 1 (Ta=125C) devices are available now for ordering. Grade-0 (Ta=150C) devices will be available in October 2013. Both Grade 1 and Grade 0 devices will be available in an HTQFP 48-pin package. The DRV3204-Q1 is priced at $2.63 for 100-unit quantities and the DRV3203-Q1 is available upon request.
Texas Instruments introduced the DS90UH927Q-Q1 serializer and DS90UH928Q-Q1 deserializer. The new TI FPD-Link III chipsets deliver uncompressed high-definition (HD) digital video and audio to touchscreen LCD panels in a vehicle’s central information display and rear passenger seats. The DS90UH927Q-Q1 is in a 40-pin, 6mm x 6mm QFN package, while the DS90UH928Q-Q1 is in a 48-pin, 7mm x 7mm QFN package. The DS90UH927Q-Q1 serializer and DS90UH928Q-Q1 deserializer are available now for $9.75 each in 1,000-unit quantities.
Texas Instruments introduced the bq27421 Li-Ion battery fuel gauge integrated circuit. The TI bq27421 battery fuel gauge is available now in a 1.5mm by 1.5mm by 0.5mm, 9-ball WCSP package. It is priced at $1.20 in 1,000-unit quantities. A QFN package version is sampling to select customers, and is expected to be available in volume production in the fourth quarter.
Texas Instruments announced the Dynamic NFC Transponder RF430CL330H. The TI near field communications hardware enables uncomplicated and inexpensive wireless set up. Texas Instruments also announced that the NFCLink software is a standard NFC library for the TRF79xx NFC transceiver family to ease NFC development on TI embedded processors.

The tool enables developers to evaluate SafeTI components for use in designs requiring compliance to functional safety standards such as ISO26262 and IEC 61508. The SafeTI Hitex Safety Kits are available now for $499. The Hercules RM48x MCU-based SafeTI Hitex Safety Kit is ideal for medical and industrial designs. The Hercules TMS570LS31x kit is ideal for automotive and transportation designs.
Texas Instruments announced two power management chipsets with TI’s patented new MaxLife fast-charge technology, which charges single-cell Li-Ion batteries faster and increases battery life. The bq27530 and bq27531 fuel gauge circuits with charger control are available now in a 2mm by 1mm by 0.65mm, 15-pin wafer chipscale (WCSP) package, and are priced at $2.07 in 1,000-unit quantities. The bq24192 4.5-A battery charger comes in a 24-pin, 4mm by 4mm QFN package and is priced at $2.50 in quantities of 1,000. The bq24160 dual-input 2.5-A charger comes in a 24-pin QFN package and a 2.8mm by 2.8mm, 49-ball WCSP package, and is priced at $2.50 in 1,000-unit quantities.
Texas Instruments announced their TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 automotive LED drivers. The AEC-Q100 qualified devices feature the industry’s highest voltage rating, thermal shutdown protection and optimized electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance. The TLC6C598-Q1 comes in two packages: the SOIC-D and TSSOP-PW 16-pin packages are available now at a suggested retail price of $0.50 in 2,500-unit quantities. The TLC6C5912-Q1 comes in two packages: the SOIC and TSSOP 20-pin packages are available now for a suggested retail price of $0.70 in 2,500-unit quantities.
Texas Instruments announced the LP5907 and LP38798 low-dropout linear voltage regulators. The 250-mA LP5907 and 800-mA LP38798 LDOs offer great noise and power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) performance in very small, easy-to-use packages. The TI LP5907 and LP39798 devices are available in volume now. Offered in 5-pin SOT-23, 4-pin micro SMD and 4-pin DSBGA packages, the LP5907 is priced at $0.23 in 1,000-unit quantities. The LP39798 is offered in a 12-pin WSON package with thermal pad and is price at $1.30.
