Seamless integrating Stonestreet One’s Bluetopia with Mentor’s Nucleus RTOS will enable developers to create innovative products for low power and connectivity with ease and reliability.
Mentor Graphics will place the front-end UML editor of their BridgePoint xtUML environment into the open source domain. The availability of BridgePoint as an open source editor will enable the industry’s movement from static UML diagrams and paper-based processes to executable model-driven flows. Over time, Mentor Graphics expects the BridgePoint open source UML editor to become the de facto standard for UML trainers and educators.
Mentor Graphics rolled out the latest release of the Mentor Embedded Linux platform. The latest version of the Mentor Embedded Linux platform supports the Yocto Project, which is an open source collaborative project established by The Linux Foundation. Mentor Graphics is a key contributor to the Yocto Project and OpenEmbedded community.
The Flowmaster Group has been acquired by Mentor Graphics. Flowmaster is a leader in 1D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation software for system design. The acquisition consolidates the position of Mentor Graphics as the first EDA company to move into the adjacent Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) mechanical analysis space. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Mentor Graphics is selling it’s Catapult C Synthesis unit to Calypto Design Systems. Mentor Graphics will continue to support current customers of the Mentor Graphics Catapult C Synthesis tool. However, moving forward, any new customer sales and support will be supplied by Calypto. Other details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Mentor Graphics is seeking entries to their PCB Technology Leadership Awards competition. The contest honors engineers and CAD designers who use Mentor Graphics PCB solutions (including the Board Station, Expedition Enterprise and PADS design flows) to address today’s complex PCB systems design challenges and produce industry-leading products. The deadline for engineers and designers to submit their design is September 30, 2011.
Mentor Graphics introduced a new program that combines Mentor Embedded professional services and products specifically for hardware companies. The new Mentor Embedded Hardware Enablement Program features services and training for embedded Android, Linux, open source tools (GNU, GCC, Eclipse), user interface (UI) creation, and vertical markets like in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), smart energy and retail applications. According to Mentor Graphics, 87% of respondents in a recent survey indicated it was either mandatory or highly desirable to have high-level synthesis tools integrated with ESL flows. With that in mind, Mentor has enhanced their Catapult C high-level synthesis tool to support the synthesis of transaction level models (TLMs). TLM synthesis results in a TLM 2.0-based solution for virtual prototyping and hardware implementation, and enables the creation of synthesis-ready virtual platforms.
Mentor Graphics revealed its 3D-IC strategy for designing, verifying, manufacturing and testing integrated circuit products using multi-die vertical stacking technology. Mentor also announced their 3D-IC testing solution, which includes multiple components of the Tessent design-for-test product line for integrated multi-die hierarchical scan and built-in self-test (BIST) methodologies. 3D-IC is an alternative to traditional scaling for achieving advances in performance, reduced power consumption, cost reduction, and increased functionality in a small package.
JEDEC has approved the JESD51-14 standard, which is titled Transient Dual Interface Test Method for the Measurement of the Thermal Resistance Junction-to-case of Semiconductor Devices with Heat Flow through a Single Path. The thermal transient testing-based measurement methodology is based on an idea published jointly by the Mentor Graphics MicReD group and Infineon the Automotive Power Application group. JEDEC is an organization dedicated to open standards in the microelectronics industry.
