Agilent Technologies Introduces WVAN Wireless Library

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) introduced a WVAN Wireless Library that helps prevent unnecessary wafer spins, thus accelerating deployment of next-generation 60 GHz wireless video area networks (WVAN) for high-volume consumer video equipment. The library is for use with Agilent's Advanced Design System (ADS) EDA software.

Profits Fall for Top 5 Handset Vendors

The Strategy Analytics Wireless Device Strategies service report, "Rich Media Specialists Increase Share Of Global $19 Billion Profits," reveals falling profits for the traditional top five handset vendors. Their share of industry profits has fallen from 92% in 2004 to 84% in 2007. In addition, Global ASPs have fallen at a 7% CAGR through 2007. The market catalyst vendors realize ASPs that are on average 250% higher than the industry average.

Darfon Selects Cypress PRoC LP Programmable Radio on Chip

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) announced that Darfon Electronics Corp. (Darfon), a leading manufacturer of PC peripherals, has selected Cypress's PRoC(tm) LP programmable radio-on-chip for a new ultra-small micro dongle for wireless mice. The micro dongle, roughly the size of a U.S. dime, uses the fully-integrated CYRF69213 PRoC LP device to deliver flawless, low-power wireless connectivity to Darfon's mice.
