The MathWorks Rolls Out Bioinformatics Toolbox 3.0 for MATLAB

The MathWorks announced a new version of Bioinformatics Toolbox for MATLAB®, which enables computational biologists and research scientists to more effectively explore ideas, prototype new algorithms, and build applications for drug research, genetic engineering, and other genomics and proteomics projects. Among the many new features of Bioinformatics Toolbox 3.0 are new capabilities to improve analysis and visualization of microarray and mass spectrometry data to help accelerate the research and discovery process.

ArcSoft Digital Theatre Supports Intel Clear Video Technology

ArcSoft, Inc. announced that ArcSoft Digital Theatre(TM) now implements support for Intel® Clear Video Technology. Digital Theatre is a breakthrough software application for video playback, including Blu-ray, HD DVD, and AVCHD. Intel® Clear Video Technology is a combination of video processing hardware and software technologies that delivers enhanced high-definition video playback, sharper images, precise color control, and advanced support for a wide range of digital displays. The technology is available on platforms using the Intel® G965, GM965, G33, and G35 Express Chipsets.

Fujitsu Debuts PC Login Kit for PalmSecure Biometric Authentication Device

Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Frontech Limited announced that they have developed a PC Login Kit for use with the PalmSecure palm vein biometric authentication device and begun sales of a mouse model and a standard model for corporate users. PalmSecure PC Login Kit comes standard with login-authentication software, enabling client-side authentication and eliminating the need to use an authentication server, which had been required up until now. In addition, other improvements have been incorporated, such as faster authentication speeds without a palm guide[1] and greater tolerance for the distance and angle of the hand when it passes over the device.

Big Faceless Organization Rolls Out Versions of Reporting Software

Big Faceless Organization (BFO), have rung the changes for August and released new versions of all three of their market leading Java based reporting software products. PDF Library version 2.8.4 fixes a memory leak (their first in 18 months) occurring when certain multibyte OpenType fonts were used in forms. All customers are encouraged to upgrade. Other improvements relate to PDF/A support and reading certain types of TIFF image. The Report Generator 1.1.37 is built on Version 2.8.4 of the PDF Library, and 1.1.6 of the Graph Library, and has been released to take advantage of these modifications.
