Fairchild Develops Power Supply Reference Design for 400W Ecodesign
Fairchild Semiconductor's (NYSE: FCS) system-power experts from the Global Power Resource Center in Fuerstenfeldbruck, Germany have developed the industry's first power supply reference design for 400W ecodesigns. This power supply reference design shows how the combination of two state-of-the-art products, the award-winning Green FPS[tm] power switch (FSFR2100) and Power-SPM[tm] (FFP06R001) in modular SIP-9 packages, creates an elegant and efficient design. With efficiency at more than 92 percent, this design exceeds the 87 percent efficiency target proposed by the Energy Using Products directive (EuP).

Low-Power Intel IVI Reference Design Features Xilinx Automotive FPGA
Xilinx, Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX) announced availability of an integrated Xilinx(R) Automotive (XA) field programmable gate array (FPGA) and intellectual property (IP) solution that is included in the Low-Power Intel(R) In-Vehicle Infotainment Reference Design (Low-Power Intel(R) IVI Reference Design) targeting automotive head units. The combination of the XA solution and Intel(R) Atom(TM) processor in the design provides system developers with improved levels of performance, scalability, and flexibility when developing open infotainment platforms. TI Acquires Commergy Technologies, Power Supply Reference Designs
Texas Instruments (TI) Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) announced that it has acquired Ireland-based Commergy Technologies, Ltd., a power supply reference design provider that specializes in energy efficient and compact architectures. The acquisition allows TI to broaden its focus on improving energy efficiency in today's end-equipment designs, especially in the areas of AC adapters and high-power-density computing and server systems.
