MSC Vertriebs Acquires ABLE Design
MSC Vertriebs GmbH in Stutensee has acquired the majority stake in ABLE Design GmbH. In addition to sales of standard assemblies with TFT, electroluminescent and plasma displays, ABLE Design GmbH, which was founded in 1994 and is located in Munich, focuses mainly on the design of high-quality, customer-specific display solutions. In 2007, the company with twelve employees achieved revenues of 4.5 million Euros.
Liquavista Raises 8 Million Euros
Liquavista BV, the fabless display manufacturing company based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, with offices in the UK and Hong Kong, has announced the completion of an €8 million Series B fund raising, comprising equity and debt. Existing investors Amadeus Capital Partners, GIMV and New Venture Partners LLC all participated in the round.
eASIC Corporation Raises $48 Million
eASIC Corporation, a provider of zero mask-charge ASIC chips, announced it has raised $48M in late stage financing. The financing round was lead by Advanced Equities Incorporated. Also participating in the round were previous investors Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Crescendo Ventures and Evergreen Venture Partners. The eASIC Chief Financial Officer, Craig Klosterman, also invested in this round.
Intel Capital Makes Investment in Tela Innovations
Tela Innovations, an early stage technology company focused on addressing the challenges of scaling semiconductor manufacturing to 45nm and beyond, announced that Intel Capital, the global investment arm of Intel Corporation, became a new investor in the company. Intel Capital’s investment was part of the company’s Series B round, which included new investor AsiaTech Management as well as existing investors.

Asad A Abidi Wins IEEE Donald O Pederson Award
The IEEE has named Asad A. Abidi as the recipient of its 2008 Donald O. Pederson Award in Solid-State Circuits, recognizing his visionary work in integrating emerging communications technologies into what became the nucleus of many popular wireless communications products. His innovative circuit design played an integral part in advancing wireless networking, Bluetooth and cellular technologies. The IEEE is the world’s leading professional association for the advancement of technology.
