Icahn Group Offers $17 per Share for Mentor Graphics
Carl Icahn and certain of his affiliated entities (the “Icahn Group”) has made an unsolicited conditional proposal for all of the outstanding Mentor Graphics (NASDAQ: MENT) shares that the Icahn Group don’t already owns. The Icahn Group is offering $17 per share in cash, which is a 17% premium to Mentor’s closing price of $14.52 on Friday.
OneSpin Solutions Acquired by Azini Capital
Azini Capital has acquired OneSpin Solutions GmbH from founding investors. To accelerate the OneSpin’s growth and development, Azini has also completed an additional investment in the company. OneSpin was established in May 2005 as a commercial EDA company by Infineon AG and Apax Partners. OneSpin’s solutions enable engineers to reduce verification effort and costs, avoid costly redesigns and respins, and decrease time-to-market.
Japanese Customs Office Rejects Request to Suspend Import of EVE ZeBu
EVE, the leader in hardware/software co-verification, announced that the Japanese Customs Office has rendered a decision to reject Mentor Graphics’ application to suspend the importation of its best-in-class emulation systems. Each of the three intellectual property rights experts appointed by the Japanese Customs Office made a detailed analysis of the patent at issue and the alleged EVE ZeBu products, and the experts delivered opinions that the Japanese Customs Office should not accept the application from Mentor Graphics.
Mentor Graphics Takes EVE to Court with Patent Infringement Lawsuit
Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) announced it will continue its claims of patent infringement against EVE emulation products in Japan before the Tokyo District Court in accordance with the ruling from the Japanese Customs Office.
Mentor Graphics Files Import Suspension, EVE to Defend Against Allegation
Following EVE’s announcement June 29 stating record quarterly bookings of $19.9 million, Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) announced yesterday that it had filed an import suspension application against EVE emulation products in the Japanese Customs Office. The filing requests that Japanese Customs issue a ruling that EVE emulation products infringe Mentor Graphics’ intellectual property. The application also requests that, upon making such a determination, the Japanese Customs Office bar importation of EVE products into Japan.
POLYTEDA Software Announces New Board Members

SMIC, TSMC Resolve All Pending Lawsuits
Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (the “Company” or “SMIC”) announced that it entered into a settlement agreement with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd. (the “Acquiror” or “TSMC”) to resolve all pending lawsuits between the parties, including the legal action filed by TSMC in California (the “California Case”) for which a verdict was returned by the jury against SMIC on 4 November 2009 and the legal action filed by SMIC in Beijing (the “Beijing Case”).
