Elma Rolls Out AMC Air Baffle/Filler Boards

Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has announced AMC boards that act as an air baffle and filler panel for empty slots in MicroTCA chassis. The AMC air baffle can be plugged into unused slots in a MicroTCA chassis to redirect or contain airflow. This helps keep the cool air within the critical parts of the enclosure, improving the overall thermal performance. The cards also act as a filler board, preventing open slots and helping to protect the chassis from outside elements such as dust.

Elma Electronic Rolls Out Eco-Friendly 12R1 Line of Rugged Enclosures

Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has announced a more eco-friendly 12R1 line of rugged COTS system platforms. The enclosure is lighter and uses RoHS-compliant materials. Elma's line of 12R1 enclosures are up to 20% lighter than the standard 12R2 line of rugged COTS chassis. This contributes for fuel savings for mobile (Air, Sea, Land) applications. The lighter units also help avionics and other applications meet weight constrictions. The system platforms are modular and come in various sizes and configurations. This includes 19" rackmount enclosures in 3U, 5U, 7U, and 10U heights and 22" and 25".

DSM Somos Impact Tests Rapid Prototyping Materials

As rapid prototyping (RP) moves closer toward direct manufacturing, stereolithography (SL) resin leader DSM Somos is working to increase industry awareness around the impact testing of SL resins for the better evaluation of material performance. At the recent 2008 3DSUG conference in Costa Mesa, CA, DSM Somos made the information tangible with live test demonstrations in which RP users were invited to put various materials up against Somos' latest high-impact SL resin, DMX-SLT 100, in Gardner impact tests*.
