Q3 2011 EDA Revenue Grew by 18.1% to $1,543.9 Million
The Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industry revenue increased to $1,543.9 million for Q3 2011. This is an 18.1% increase compared to $1,307.0 million in Q3 2010. Sequential EDA revenue for Q3 2011 increased 7.4% compared to Q2 2011, and the four-quarters moving average increased by 17.8%. The four-quarters moving average compares the most recent four quarters to the prior four quarters. This data was presented in the latest Market Statistics Service (MSS) report by the EDA Consortium (EDAC).
The EDAC MSS report tracked EDA companies that employed 27,162 professionals in Q3 2011. This is an increase of 2.6% compared to the 26,474 people employed in Q3 2010, and up 1.7% compared to Q2 2011. The EDA Consortium Market Statistics Service reports EDA industry revenue data quarterly and is available by annual subscription. Both public and private companies contribute data to the report.

CAE saw revenue of 566.7 million in Q3 2011, which is a 10.5% increase over Q3 2010. The four-quarters moving average for CAE increased 16.3%. -
IC Physical Design and Verification
Revenue for this category increased by 16% to $338.3 million in Q3 2011 (compared to Q3 2010). The four-quarters moving average increased 10.1%. -
Printed Circuit Board and Multi-Chip Module
PCB & MCM revenue grew by 11.6% to $140.3 million (compared to Q3 2010). The four-quarters moving average for PCB and MCM increased 21.7%. -
Semiconductor Intellectual Property
SIP revenue increased by 37.4% to reach $410 million in Q3 2011 (compared to Q3 2010). The four-quarters moving average increased 28.4%. -
Services
Services revenue grew to $88.7 million in Q3 2011, which is an increase of 13.1% (compared to Q3 2010). The four-quarters moving average increased 8.5%.
