Peratech QTC Clear Enables Larger Multi-touch Screen

Peratech announced their new QTC Clear force sensing material for touch screens. QTC Clear is actually a see through version of Peratech’s Quantum Tunnelling Composite (QTC) material. QTC Clear can be used to create a new class of force sensitive touch screens that can replace current resistive touch screen or improve capacitive displays. QTC Clear is available now and has already been licensed to a major touch screen manufacturer.

QTC Clear Features

  • QTC Clear layer is sandwiched between two layers of ITO (Indium Tin Oxide), which in turn is sandwiched between two hard sheets
  • Can detect deflections of only a few microns
  • Top surface can be rigid and robust (resistive designs have to be soft enough to deform easily)
  • Virtually no current flows unless a force is applied
