Kilopass Offers XPM Embedded OTP NVM for TSMC 40nm, 45nm LP Processes

Kilopass Technology Inc., a leading provider of semiconductor logic non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), announced that its XPM[tm] embedded one-time programmable (OTP) NVM technology is the first to complete TSMC IP-9000 Level 4 qualification and skew characterization in both the TSMC[tm] 40nm and 45nm low-power (LP) process technologies. In addition, early adopter customers of Kilopass 40/45nm OTP have successfully taped out. Kilopass’ logic-based XPM OTP technology requires no added cost for integration with standard logic processes, and is the leading NVM IP available for the industry’s most advanced process nodes.

GE Intelligent Platforms V7768 Supports Wind River VxWorks 653 IMA

GE Intelligent Platforms announced support for the latest VxWorks 653 Platform, Wind River’s real-time operating environment for controlling complex, safety-critical, ARINC 653 Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems. The VxWorks 653 platform is used in more than 180 subsystems by over 100 customers worldwide in more than 40 airframes, including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner[tm]. The new platform’s innovative technology – now available for the first time for single board computers based on the Intel® Core[tm] 2 Duo processor – will provide GE Intelligent Platforms’ customers with an important competitive advantage in developing and delivering civil and military solutions that require the highest levels of safety certification while reducing program risk, shortening time-to-market and minimizing expense.

Wind River Partner Validation Program Targets Aerospace and Defense

Wind River launched its Partner Validation Program for the aerospace and defense market segment with initial partners AdaCore, aicas, ALT Software, Atego, Esterel Technologies, Presagis and PrismTech. Partners in the program will provide their software solutions integrated and validated with the latest releases of Wind River’s industry leading operating systems, VxWorks and Wind River Linux. These partner software solutions are specifically developed for avionics, secure military communications, unmanned systems, and complex control systems.

Renesas Selects Cadence Encounter EDI, Conformal Low Power

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), the leader in global electronic design innovation, said that Renesas Technology Corp. used the Cadence® Encounter® Digital Implementation (EDI) System and Encounter Conformal Low Power to layout a large-scale consumer system on chip (SoC) of over 8 million instances in one-half the time previously possible. Cadence Encounter technology contributed significant improvements in design time and time to market for Renesas.

In-Stat Comments on Apple and Smartphone Applications

The fight for market dominance has heated up as mobile subscribers take to mobile smartphone apps in rapidly increasing numbers, reports In-Stat. While users are downloading applications at a phenomenal rate, Apple users download 2.4 times more applications than the average smartphone user. However, downloads is not the only success factor for an application.

Tanner EDA, Dongbu HiTek Semiconductor Develop Process Design Kits

Open Virtual Platforms Rolls Out Virage Logic ARC Processors Models

The Open Virtual Platforms (OVP) initiative has announced the release of models of Virage Logic’s ARC processor cores. Models of the Virage Logic ARC® 600 and ARC® 700 families of processor cores have been released, including the ARC® 605. Additionally, Virage Logic and Imperas have cooperated on the verification of the functionality of the models. Virage Logic’s ARC line of processor cores, the world’s second most widely used processor architecture, are commonly used in audio and video subsystems, and in flash controllers, among other applications.

Nationz Selects CustomSim Mixed-Signal, VCS Functional Verification

Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS), a world leader in software and IP for semiconductor design, verification and manufacturing, announced that Nationz Technologies, Inc. has successfully achieved first-pass silicon success of a 2.5-gigahertz (GHz), 126-channel RF transceiver system-on-chip (SoC) design by using Synopsys’ CustomSim[tm] mixed-signal and VCS® functional verification solutions, part of Synopsys’ Discovery[tm] Verification Platform. These Synopsys tools delivered accurate and high-performance transient analysis of the power-up operation to within five percent of the actual silicon with 10x speed-up over Nationz’ previous tools for full-chip functional simulation. Having these capabilities shortened Nationz’ design cycle by more than two months and enabled first-pass silicon success.

IEEE 1394 Trade Association Develops FireWire Reference Tutorial

The 1394 Trade Association has developed a comprehensive new reference tutorial to assist engineers in evaluating the IEEE 1394 (FireWire) standard, understanding how it works, and maximizing FireWire performance in their application. The tutorial provides a comprehensive technical background for engineers unfamiliar with FireWire, enabling them to build a complete understanding of how the standard operates, and to evaluate FireWire’s benefits for their application. The 77-page document includes diagrams, descriptions and illustrations.
