Peratech to Develop Tactile Robotic Skin for MIT Media Lab

Peratech Limited, the leader in new materials designed for touch technology solutions, has announced that they have been commissioned by the MIT Media Lab to develop a new type of electronic ‘skin’ that enables robotic devices to detect not only that they have been touched but also where and how hard the touch was.

SystemC Configuration, Control & Inspection Standardization Review

The Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI), an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing SystemC[tm] as an industry-standard language for electronic system-level (ESL) design, announced that requirements for the configuration portion of the SystemC Configuration, Control & Inspection (CCI) standardization effort are now available for public review. They are currently available for download under open-source license.

Elektrobit Debuts Scalable AUTOSAR for Renesas R32C Microcontroller

EB (Elektrobit) has integrated the new R32C Microcontroller Abstraction Layer (MCAL) by Renesas Technology into the AUTOSAR 3.1 basic software EB tresos AutoCore. Automobile manufacturers and suppliers will thus benefit, starting in late March 2010, from fully integrated AUTOSAR software for the R32C microcontroller series from Renesas, which corresponds to the specification of the Manufacturer Software Initiative HIS of the German OEMs.

SEMATECH Announces EUVL Mask Infrastructure Partnership Consortium

SEMATECH has launched a global consortium at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering’s (CNSE) Albany NanoTech Complex to develop critical metrology tools for detecting defects in advanced masks needed for extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUVL) – filling an industry need considered too costly for individual companies to develop independently.

Continua Certified Platform for Development of Healthcare Devices

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) and S3 Group, a connected healthcare technology solutions company, announced the availability of the first Continua Certified[tm] USB-enabled platform for building agent healthcare devices. The platform consists of TI’s ultra-low power MSP430 microcontroller (MCU) and S3 Group’s Embedded Agent Stack (EAS) – an 11073 PAN device (agent) stack, which has been optimized for resource constrained platforms. The platform for agent devices will enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to bring personal health devices to market quicker and easier.

embWiSe Ports SDIOWorx Package to Microsoft’s Windows CE 6.0

embWiSe Technologies, the only third party vendor to offer SDIO stacks on different embedded OS platforms, had announced support for its SDIOWorx package on Microsoft’s Windows CE OS.
