Microchip Adds Security Features to KEELOQ Authentication System

Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller and analog semiconductors, announced it has expanded the security capabilities of the patented KEELOQ® authentication system. The KEELOQ 3 Development Kit (part # DM303007) demonstrates these enhancements to the KEELOQ system with a patented secure-learning algorithm that prevents differential power-analysis attack techniques. Additionally, the technology now supports 128-bit encryption keys, longer data transmissions and bi-directional communication authentication; and also supports alternative encryption algorithms, such as XTEA and AES. This enhanced microcontroller-based encoder solution enables customization, so that further security enhancements can be implemented over time.

Concurrent Rolls Out PP 66x/071 Family of 6U CompactPCI Boards

Concurrent Technologies has released the PP 66x/071 family of 6U CompactPCI boards, one of the first product ranges to feature the quad core 2.13 GHz Intel® Xeon® processor L5518 or the dual core 2.0 GHz Intel® Xeon® processor L5508, both of which were released today by Intel. Based on 45nm process technology and the new Intel® microarchitecture, formerly codenamed “Nehalem”, both processors are from the Intel® embedded roadmap which offers at least seven year availability. With up to 64 Gbytes of DDR3-1066 ECC SDRAM, two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and several SAS and SATA300 disk interfaces, the PP 66x/071 family has one of the highest specifications available to 6U CompactPCI users today; the boards are particularly suitable for CPU intensive processing applications within the telecommunications, defence and homeland security market sectors.

IAR Systems Introduces KickStart Kit for Toshiba ARM Cortex-M3

IAR Systems® AB, the world’s leading independent supplier of software development tools for the embedded systems sector, announces the release of a new, low-cost development kit for the ARM® Cortex-M3[tm] in partnership with the Toshiba® Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 6502). Toshiba became the first Japanese semiconductor manufacturer to develop a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 core-based microcontroller unit (MCU) when it released the TMPM330FDFG in late 2008. It leveraged the Cortex-M3 core to create a high-performance, low-power general-purpose MCU device with a large Flash memory, a real time clock, a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and a 3-channel SIO/UART, all housed in a compact LQFP package. These features mean that the TMPM330FDFG is optimized for use in consumer, industrial, security and general low power applications.

RTI Data Distribution Service Integrates with Wind River VxWorks MILS

Real-Time Innovations (RTI) announced that the company has collaborated with Wind River (NASDAQ: WIND) to integrate RTI Data Distribution Service with Wind River’s VxWorks MILS Platform 2.0. The VxWorks MILS Platform allows a single processor to host applications running at multiple security levels (for example, secret and top secret), reducing space, weight and power requirements compared to the traditional approach of segregating security levels across different processors. RTI Data Distribution Service complements the VxWorks MILS Platform by enabling applications running in different secure partitions, or on different processors, to easily communicate and share data using the Object Management Group (OMG) Data Distribution Service for Real-Time Systems (DDS) specification.

TI Unveils Reference Designs for IP Camera, Digital Video Recorder

To answer security designers needs to create advanced surveillance products with less resources, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced two comprehensive and cost-effective reference designs for Internet Protocol (IP) cameras and digital video recorders (DVR). These reference designs, powered by the new TMS320DM365 digital media processor based on DaVinci™ technology, provide high-definition (HD) H.264 in high, main or base profile (D1, 720p @ 30 fps or 1080p at reduced frame rate) with tri-streaming support. They also benefit from TI’s fifth generation Image Signal Processing (ISP) solution, which enables video stabilization, face detection and other video quality enhancements. Additionally, the DVR reference design includes the new TVP5158 video decoder to capture multi-channel video inputs with new advanced features, such as auto contrast and video noise filtering for greater visual quality.

Lanner Rolls Out FW-9650, FW-8892, FW-8875 Rackmount Systems
