COMMELL Rolls Out HS-873P, FS-97E Single Board Computers

Taiwan Commate Computer Inc.(COMMELL), the worldwide leader of Single Board Computers, introduced the PISA Half-size CPU Card HS-873P & PICMG 1.0 Full-size CPU Card FS-97E SBCs that incorporate an Intel Socket P pin-out 45nm process technology with Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Penryn or Core 2 Extreme processors to meet the needs of a wide range of performance-intensive, low-power embedded applications such as process control, measurement, gaming platform, industrial control and automation, digital security surveillance and medical imaging.

Atmel, PGC Port Image Viewer Reference Design to AT91CAP9A-STK Starter Kit

Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML) and PGC (Progate Group Corporation) announced the availability of a JPEG image viewer reference design ported onto the low-cost AT91CAP9A-STK Starter Kit for Atmel’s AT91CAP9S Customizable Microcontroller. When connected to a host PC via its USB Device Port, the CAP-STK appears as a mass storage device for JPEG images. Running stand-alone, the CAP-STK de-compresses the images and displays them on its VGA screen, using JPEG de-compression and display IP supplied by PGC, and mapped into the FPGA that emulates CAP’s Metal Programmable block.

AMD Develops ATI Radeon HD 4800 with Cadence Incisive Palladium II

Open Verification Methodology Includes Unified Coverage Database API, XML

Mentor Graphics (Nasdaq: MENT) and Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDNS) announced they have extended the Open Verification Methodology (OVM) to include the Unified Coverage Database (UCDB) application program interface (API) and an XML interchange format. The availability of the UCDB API and complementary XML interchange format documentation will allow verification teams to manage coverage metrics in a multi-tool, multi-vendor verification environment, and represents a step toward a standardized approach to managing coverage metrics.

National Instruments introduced the NI PXI-8110 embedded controller, which is the industry’s first 3U quad-core embedded controller for PXI systems. Featuring a 2.26 GHz Intel® Core[tm] 2 Quad processor Q9100, up to 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 RAM and a high-performance 7200 rpm drive, it is also the industry’s fastest embedded controller in the 3U PXI class. The PXI-8110 provides an up to 80 percent performance improvement over dual-core controllers with similar CPU clock frequencies for applications that are optimized to use the controller’s four processing cores.
