Moxa Unveils EDS-408A 3 FO Three Fiber Port Managed Ethernet Switch

Posted by Ken Cheung in Industrial, Networking on Monday, February 16, 2009

Moxa announced the EDS-408A 3 FO, which is a 8-port managed Ethernet switch with three optical fiber ports in slim form factor design. The unique feature of 3 fiber ports make EDS-408A 3 FO ideal for industrial applications such as widely dispersed wind farm networks that need more long-haul transmission capability in a standalone Ethernet switch. Fiber transmission offers the benefit of greater EMI protection to prevent unstable network transmissions and data loss. In addition, EDS-408A 3 FO series is designed for fan-less operation in wide temperature ranges from -40 to 75°C.

Moxa EDS-408A 3 FO 8-port managed Ethernet switchEDS-408A 3 FO series includes TurboRing[TM], a ring protocol that recovers the Ethernet network in less than 20 ms (with up to 250 Ethernet switches in a ring) to ensure system stability. Other functions include Quality of Service (QoS) for traffic prioritization and consistent data transmission, and IGMP Snooping to reduce traffic on the Ethernet LAN and VLAN, which can be used to segment your network without being restricted by physical connections.

Product Features

  • 3 fiber optic ports (single/multi mode, SC/ST connectors)
  • TurboRingTM, RSTP/STP (IEEE 802.1w/D) for Ethernet redundancy
  • QoS support, port-based VLAN, and SNMPv1/v2c/v3
  • -40 to 75ºC operating temperature
  • Slim, fan-less and DIN-Rail design
  • Redundant power inputs
