LeCroy Introduces WaveRunner Xi-A Digital Oscilloscopes

Posted by Ken Cheung in Test Solution on Tuesday, February 3, 2009

LeCroy Corporation (NASDAQ: LCRY), a leading supplier of oscilloscopes and serial data test solutions, announced the launch of a new line of powerful mid-range WaveRunner® Xi-A digital oscilloscopes. The WaveRunner Xi-A digital oscilloscope combines all of the power and flexibility of LeCroy’s highly popular WaveRunner Xi product line with a new hardware architecture to increase acquisition and display speed, a spectrum analyzer option, new connectivity options, and improved debug and analysis through its TriggerScan[tm] feature. The WaveRunner Xi-A also includes a large, bright display and is the most space-efficient oscilloscope with bandwidths ranging from 400 MHz to 2 GHz.

“The WaveRunner Xi-A is more powerful and provides more insight than any mid-range scope available in its class,” said LeCroy President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Reslewic. “The classic WaveRunner Xi was introduced in 2006 and revolutionized how customers perceive a mid-range scope. LeCroy’s WaveRunner Xi-A provides the greatest value for everyday characterization, validation and debugging advanced problems. The new scopes are loaded with capabilities and features that differentiate the WaveRunner Xi-A from the competition.”

LeCroy has leveraged its latest technologies, originally developed for the WavePro 7 Zi and WaveMaster 8 Zi products, to create the foundation for the WaveRunner Xi-A. These architecture advances provide the WaveRunner Xi-A with faster acquisition times, making it the most responsive front panel oscilloscope in its class. WaveRunner Xi-A features a redesigned PC system and new motherboard, augmented with an Intel® Core[tm]2 Duo processor, faster RAM, and a quicker hard drive. This results in a 40 to 70 percent speed improvement over competitive units in deep memory analysis and serial data decoding. The software architecture improvements also incorporate key elements of the X-Stream II architecture, which permit preview and abort capability, allowing the customer to have instant control of the oscilloscope without any delay. Designed for long memory operation and improved responsiveness, X-Stream II technology enables high throughput of data – even when the oscilloscope is acquiring 25 Mpts waveforms.
