The Design and Verification Conference (DVCon), sponsored by Accellera, announced a new executive-level panel to showcase significant issues facing the industry. The panel titled, “EDA: Dead or Alive?” will be moderated by Peggy Aycinena, editor of EDA Confidential. The panel will feature executives from Atrenta, Berkeley Design Automation, Calypto Design Systems, EVE, Javelin Design Automation, SpringSoft and Synopsys, and will take place on Wednesday, February 25th, from 3:15 PM to 5:00 PM in the Donner/Siskiyou Ballroom in the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose.
“The EDA industry is suffering from a severe case of schizophrenia,” said Aycinena. “One half of the EDA Brain Trust says the industry is Brain Dead; the other half says there’s nothing but Good Times ahead. Panelists at DVCon will consider both extremes.”
The panel will address questions such as: Can we actually have it both ways? Is the industry stuck in the past with legacy tools, customers, and mindsets – or is there really an exhilarating future ahead? Ten years from now, will a re-energized EDA industry be generating billions and billions of dollars with third-party tools for cutting-edge technologies and expanded markets? Or, will there even be an EDA industry ten long years from now?
Many of the questions Aycinena will put in front of the executives will come from the EDA Blogosphere. The DVCon website has posted links to some of those sites. To view comments or to post your own, visit www.dvcon.com and click on the “News and Opinions” column on the right side of the homepage.
