Frost & Sullivan Announces Presentation on NA Semiconductor Market

Posted by Ken Cheung in Research on Sunday, January 25, 2009

The Measurement & Instrumentation practice at Frost & Sullivan is pleased to announce its 2009 Quarterly Analyst Briefing Presentation on the North American semiconductor market, to be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. PST. Consumer electronics account for a major portion of semiconductor vendor sales. Therefore, sales of semiconductors decline as customers reduce or halt their spending on electronics. Without high consumer confidence, the semiconductor industry, like many other industries, will be without growth for the first half of 2009. However, Frost & Sullivan believes that with a thorough examination of the market, in conjunction with growth strategies, market participants have the capability to rebound.

Frost & Sullivan is hosting this free presentation to inform semiconductor manufacturers, foundries, distributors and electronics and telecommunications equipment manufacturers of the potential in the semiconductor market. The briefing will provide an analysis on the current state of the economic environment, discuss ideas, strategies and tactics companies can use to grow in a bottoming market, and review the possibility of a market uptick in 2009.

“While the sagging economy and low consumer spending will continue to cause demand in the semiconductors market to decline, the industry is well-positioned to resume growth in the second half of 2009,” predicts Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Jayalakshmi Janakiraman. “While excess inventory in the supply chain is a concern for the global semiconductor industry, its severity cannot compete with the supply surplus seen in 2001 during the dot-com collapse. The inventory buildup may not be sufficient enough to derail market growth beyond the third quarter of 2009.”
