American Portwell Technology’s new PEM-E200VLA and PCOM-B214VG embedded system boards take full advantage of the low-power and high performance-per-watt features of Intel’s Atom N270 processor with 945GSE and ICH7-M chipset. Both modules feature one 200-pin SO-DIMM that supports single channel DDR2 SDRAM up to 2GB, support for SATA and IDE and a developer COM Express Type II carrier board PCOM-C210 (ATX) for the PCOM-B214VG. With these recent additions, American Portwell Technology’s Intel Atom processor-based portfolio now includes Q7, Nano-ITX, ECX, UMPC, ETX, COM Express and Mini-ITX.
The newly expanded Atom N270-based product portfolio is ideal for low-power systems and small form factor devices in applications such as retail automation, , medical equipment, healthcare automation, industrial process control, portable devices, , gaming machines, VoIP, COTS military and digital signage.
Low-power consumption, fanless and reduced time-to-market
“The new PEM-E200VLA and PCOM-B214VG offer low-power consumption, which means they can be true fanless solutions,” says Jimmy Chang, product marketing manager, American Portwell Technology. “The architecture of the COM Express module and its carrier board is designed to speed up time-to-market for custom-made applications and the modules’ flexibility leaves plenty of room for future expansion,” confirms Chang.
PEM-E200VLA: An ETX module
American Portwell Technology’s PEM-E200VLA is an Atom-based ETX module with DDR2 SDRAM, VGA, Fast Ethernet, SATA and USB. It features the Intel® Atom(tm) N270 + 945GSE + ICH7-M platform that provides a cost-effective, high technology solution. Using this platform means the PEM-E200VLA can maintain less than a 10 watt thermal design point (TDP) solution, making fanless design a snap. Its SATA and IDE interfaces maximize market cost-effectiveness. The display interface supports CRT, LVDS and TV-out, plus CRT resolutions of up to 2048×1536 at 85Hz refresh.
PCOM-B214VG: A Type II COM Express module
The PCOM-B214VG is an Atom-based Type II COM Express module with DDR2 SDRAM, VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, SATA and USB. This module has all the features of the PEM-E200VLA, including the same Intel® Atom(tm) platform that provides a cost-effective, high technology solution and delivers a TDP of less than 10 watts. The display interface supports CRT, LVDS, TV-out and SVDO, plus CRT resolutions of up to 2048×1536 at 85Hz refresh.
