MSC Vertriebs Announces CX-MB-SP1 Secure Embedded Baseboard

MSC Vertriebs GmbH presents Secure Embedded Platform based on MSC CX-MB-SP1 baseboard, specifically designed for applications in Gaming, Self-service and Infotainment terminal industries. Thanks to the modularity of the baseboard and a wide selection of Computer-On-Module (COM) from MSC, designers are enabled to quickly build their complete embedded systems with a high degree of flexibility.

MSC CX-MB-SP1 Secure Embedded BaseboardThe Secure Embedded Platform incorporates special security features for protection against unauthorized access and external manipulation. In addition to an integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM), other features include: TrustedCore BIOS from Phoenix Technologies, battery backed security controller and a smart card, which can contain additional customer-specific security functions.

The baseboard is designed for acceptance of powerful COM Express[tm] modules in extended, basic or compact form factor and standardized PCIe extension cards. The PICMG® compliant COM Express[tm] modules are available from MSC in different performance classes with Intel® Pentium[tm] M, Celeron[tm] M, Atom[tm] or Intel® Core[tm] 2 Duo processor.

The MSC CX-MB-SP1 Secure Embedded Baseboard enables graphics performance enhancement via PCI Express[tm] x16 slot that can accept standard PCI Express Graphics (PEG) cards based on embedded ATI/AMD or NVIDIA® graphics processors. The standard PEG modules offer a combination of independent dual DVI and/or VGA interfaces and a range of graphics performances. The same slot can be used to plug ADD2 card that connects the SDVO signals from the Internal Graphics Controller (IGC) of the GMCH and provides dual independent DVI outputs.

A range of interfaces required for Gaming and Kiosk terminal applications, e.g. Bill Acceptor, Printer, Hopper, Touch Screen Controller, Barcode reader, Back-office system, Digital I/Os etc. are implemented on a separate passive backplane board. The backplane board enables quick system prototyping and can be tailored to suit particular customer requirements.

The Board Support Package (BSP) offers standard and custom built device drivers, which are specifically designed for Gaming and Kiosk terminal application’s functions. Windows XPe® and Linux operating systems are supported. MSC offers support for customer-specific adaptation and implementation of different operating systems as well as the development of special drivers for money handling (e.g. ccTalk). BIOS customization is one of our major strengths based on the years of experience and strong partnership with the major BIOS suppliers.
