1394 Trade Association Publishes Automotive Standard Technical Paper

Posted by Ken Cheung in Boards, Busses on Wednesday, December 10, 2008

The 1394 Trade Association issued a new technical paper describing the features and benefits of the new 1394 Automotive standard for in-vehicle entertainment and navigation networks. Entitled, “The Best Future Proof Solution to a Vehicle Network Design – Using the 1394 Automotive Standard,” the paper defines the various benefits of 1394 for the car, including cost, reliability, real time quality of service, flexibility, and others. The standard also provides automakers and tier one suppliers with the long life cycles and efficiencies required for successful development of innovative in-vehicle systems including rear-seat entertainment and navigation.

“The 1394 Trade Association, AMI-C and other industry standards groups spent many years developing this superior networking technology, working closely with the automotive manufacturers and their leading suppliers,” said Max Bassler, vice chair of the 1394 Trade Association and a leader in the development of the 1394 Automotive standard. “The 1394 Trade Association is moving forward now with proposed device compliance testing and extensions to the standard. Our members feel strongly that competing technologies do not and will not compare with 1394 Automotive now and over the long term.”
