Avnet Debuts Freescale L Microcontrollers On-Ramp Technical Session

Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, a business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), announces the launch of a new On-Ramp Technical Session[tm] featuring solutions from Freescale Semiconductor. The new On-Ramp features live presentations and demonstrations of the Freescale L family of 8-bit microcontrollers, and is being offered free of charge upon request for qualified Avnet customers in North America.

The new Avnet On-Ramp Technical Session helps accelerate customer development cycles by demonstrating how the L family provides an ideal solution for portable and small appliances that require ultra-low-power performance and design flexibility. The trio of 8-bit MCUs, including the S08LL (LL), RS08LA (LA) and RS08LE (LE), provide LCD driver support for up to eight backplanes to drive more segments with fewer pins – thus reducing costs and enabling more efficient designs.

“Avnet On-Ramp Technical Sessions were created to provide designers with an opportunity to preview the hottest design techniques in a personalized environment,” said Marc Gsand, vice president of Technical Marketing for Avnet Electronics Marketing. “Avnet’s latest On-Ramp features new products from Freescale’s L family of 8-bit LCD MCUs with integrated high segment LCD driver support.”

“Avnet’s On-Ramp Technical Sessions are a great way to help our microcontroller customers get their designs to market quickly and efficiently,” said Aiden Mitchell, director of industrial and multi-market microcontrollers at Freescale. “The combination of these complementary technical sessions and Freescale L family MCUs will help accelerate the development of innovative LCD-based applications in the portable and small appliance market.”
