AWR, the innovation leader in high-frequency electronic design automation (EDA), introduced the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) library for its Visual System Simulator (VSS) system-level design software. The library is compliant with the ETSI EN 300 744 V1.5.1 (2004-06) specifications and supports both Digital Video Broadcast – Terrestrial (DVB-T) and Digital Video Broadcast – Handheld (DVB-H).
VSS, an integral part of the AWR Design Environment[tm], allows the impact of “real-world” signal impairments and other factors to be evaluated early in the design cycle when their effects can be most effectively mitigated. It gives designers the ability to create the best system architecture by optimizing each of its components from the behavioral through component levels in conjunction with AWR’s Microwave Office® software, and then use actual measurements to validate the final design.
The VSS DVB library contains an easily-configurable DVB signal source with standard framing structure, channel coding, and modulation, as defined in the DVB specifications, as well as a reference DVB receiver implementation. Designers can evaluate the performance of their DVB receiver circuits at the component through system levels using error vector magnitude (EVM), adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR), eye diagrams, and spectral measurements, when stimulated with “real-world” signal impairments, and investigate their effects on receiver sensitivity based on bit-error ratio (BER) to ensure compliance with the DVB standards.
The DVB library for AWR’s Visual System Simulator software is available now. Readers can get more detailed information by visiting www.awrcorp.com/vss and viewing a brief video demonstration and/or by calling AWR at (310) 726-3000, or by contacting their local representative.
AWR is the innovation leader in high-frequency EDA software that dramatically reduces development time and cost for products employed in wireless, high-speed wired broadband, aerospace and defense, and electro-optical applications. The company’s core technology is unique among high-frequency EDA platforms in that it is inherently open and flexible. AWR continually strengthens its product portfolio with innovative new technologies that enable faster, more streamlined product development, the most recent of which are the ACE[tm], RFA[tm], and AXIEM[tm] tools. The privately-held company has thousands of active users and is headquartered at 1960 East Grand Avenue, Suite 430, El Segundo, Calif. 90245.
