AWR Debuts Digital Video Broadcasting Library for Visual System Simulator

Posted by Ken Cheung in Models, Simulations on Monday, December 1, 2008

AWR, the innovation leader in high-frequency electronic design automation (EDA), introduced the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) library for its Visual System Simulator (VSS) system-level design software. The library is compliant with the ETSI EN 300 744 V1.5.1 (2004-06) specifications and supports both Digital Video Broadcast – Terrestrial (DVB-T) and Digital Video Broadcast – Handheld (DVB-H).

VSS, an integral part of the AWR Design Environment[tm], allows the impact of “real-world” signal impairments and other factors to be evaluated early in the design cycle when their effects can be most effectively mitigated. It gives designers the ability to create the best system architecture by optimizing each of its components from the behavioral through component levels in conjunction with AWR’s Microwave Office® software, and then use actual measurements to validate the final design.

Designers can evaluate the performance of their DVB receiver circuits at the component through system levels using error vector magnitude (EVM), adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR), eye diagrams, and spectral measurements, when stimulated with “real-world” signal impairments, and investigate their effects on receiver sensitivity based on bit-error ratio (BER) to ensure compliance with the DVB standards.

Availability
The DVB library for AWR’s Visual System Simulator software is available now. Readers can get more detailed information by visiting www.awrcorp.com/vss and viewing a brief video demonstration and/or by calling AWR at (310) 726-3000, or by contacting their local representative.
