Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity[tm], announced that SpiderWareM3 platform management software is now available on the Centellis[tm] 2000 AdvancedTCA® (ATCA®) system. Originally available exclusively on the Centellis 500 and Centellis 1000 MicroTCA[tm] systems, SpiderWareM3 now supports both the ATCA and MicroTCA open-standard architectures of Emerson Network Power platforms.
Designed to significantly reduce development time and operating expenses, SpiderWareM3 offers remote management, monitoring and maintenance of multiple Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI)-compatible xTCA platforms and is particularly suited for the telecom and military and defense markets.
SpiderWareM3′s capabilities are first utilized in the product development lab, accelerating the integration of Emerson Network Power’s xTCA platforms with application software. Once deployed, features such as remote monitoring of field replaceable unit (FRU) status and the fault recording capabilities of SpiderWareM3′s journaling features can be leveraged to reduce operating expenses.
SpiderWareM3′s unique capabilities ease the implementation of third-party blades. For example, developers can graphically see, and click on, third-party blades represented on the SpiderWareM3 screen. This allows developers to read the blade’s FRU information and capture any alarms it is sending, enabling the developer to quickly troubleshoot problems while reducing customers’ OpEx by greatly improving manageability.
“By releasing a distribution of our award winning SpiderWareM3 software that seamlessly interfaces with ATCA-based platforms, we are now able to deliver a best-in-class, cost-effective platform management portal to a host of new vertical markets,” said Jorge Magalhaes, vice president of marketing for the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power. “We are confident that this release will significantly reduce OEM cycle times and strengthen our ecosystem by facilitating our customers’ ability to integrate third party content.”
Key features of the SpiderWareM3 platform make it applicable for a wide variety of markets, such as telecom, military/aerospace, medical and industrial applications. These features include:
- Remote monitoring of multiple ATCA platforms
- Automated acquisition and update of IPMI information
- Alarm monitoring and prioritization
- Fault and alarm alerts
- Sensor threshold setting
- Temperature control and threshold setting
- Field-replaceable unit information
- HPI and XML over TCP/IP interfaces
