American Portwell Technology, Inc., a member of the Intel® Embedded and Communications Alliance (Intel ECA), has developed a new motherboard with the latest Intel platform for embedded applications. The Portwell RUBY-9720 (Micro-ATX form factor), built with the 45nm Intel Core(tm)2 Quad processor Q9400 and Intel Q45 Express chipset, provides the ideal solution for multiple applications such as POS, ATM, Kiosk, Gaming and Digital Signage.
Based on the new Intel® solution for embedded applications, the RUBY-9720 is specifically designed to support enriched display interfaces for various multimedia devices and enriched I/O interfaces for a variety of Power USB and Power COM devices. The dual-display feature can be implemented by VGA, DVI, LVDS connectors. The third display function can easily be activated via ADD2 and PCI-Express x4 expansion graphic card.
“As an innovator and wide-range platforms provider, we realize our customers always requires a diversity of solutions to display their distinctive creations.” says Edgar Chang, president of Portwell, Inc. “The existing solution can no longer adequately protect content privacy or operation security. Today’s customers need a solution with built-in Intel® Active Management Technology 5.0 (Intel AMT 5.0), Intel Trusted Platform Module 1.2 (Intel TPM 1.2) and versatile I/O ports. Moreover, the Intel Q45 Express chipset enables enhanced graphics performance with support for Microsoft® DirectX 10 and multiple display configurations. Portwell’s RUBY-9720–based on the latest embedded platform from Intel–is the best solution to fulfill current requirements,” explains Edgar.
“The Intel® Q45 Express chipset provides embedded systems with the latest advancements in graphics with its built-in Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500,” says Ryan Parker, director of marketing, Embedded Computing Division, Intel. “When combined with the multi-processing capabilities of a quad-core processor, embedded motherboards, like the Portwell RUBY-9720, address the performance and graphics requirements of multiple industrial applications.”
In addition to the multiple-display feature, the RUBY-9720 provides four 240-pin DIMMs that support dual-channel DDR2 up to 16GB. Furthermore, it includes six SATA, three 5V/12V selectable powered RS-232 and one RS232/422/485 port, two RS232 ports on the separate multiple IO board, high definition audio codec, two standard USB ports, two 12V powered USB ports, extra five 12V USB ports on the separate multiple I/O board, one DVI port, one ADD2 slot and one PCI-Express x4 slot.
