Avnet Announces STM32 Cortex-M3 SpeedWay Design Workshop Series

Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT) announces the launch of a new Avnet SpeedWay Design Workshop[tm] featuring STM32 Cortex-M3[tm] 32-bit Flash Microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics. The new seminar is being offered in locations throughout North America beginning October 14, 2008. Avnet’s factory-trained field application engineers (FAEs) will present the full day SpeedWay Workshops with support from STMicroelectronics’ application engineers.

The STM32 Cortex-M3 SpeedWay Design Workshop features:

  • A STM32 and Cortex-M3 overview
  • Introduction to Cortex-M3 architecture
  • Compiler overview
  • Hands-on labs
  • STM32 Cortex-M3 debugging demonstration
  • Communications: USB and USART, ADC/DAC, timers, DMA and I/O, and low power features
  • Demonstration on porting existing applications to the STM32

“Avnet’s SpeedWay Design Workshops provide a unique opportunity for customers to get a detailed overview of the latest ARM Cortex-M3 architecture and system level attributes,” said John North, director of distribution for the US Geographic Business Unit of STMicroelectronics. “The combination of hands-on labs and expert technical knowledge provided by the Avnet FAEs makes SpeedWay a must-attend event for today’s designers.”

“Our workshops are taught by trained FAEs who have a working knowledge of the STM32 technology to help further guide customers through the design and implementation process and answer any questions they may have,” said Jeff Ittel, senior vice president of semiconductors for Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “Participants will leave the session armed with the necessary STM32 tools and knowledge for use in current projects.”

The STMicroelectronics’ STM32 Cortex-M3 SpeedWay Design Workshops are being offered for $249 — all attendees will receive a STM3210E-EVAL Evaluation Kit and IAR Jlink (over a $550 value).
