Synopsys IC Compiler 2008.09 Features 2X Speed-Up
Synopsys, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), a world leader in software and IP for semiconductor design and manufacturing, announced the availability of IC Compiler 2008.09, delivering a dramatic boost in IC designer productivity. The latest release features faster runtimes across the board, leading to a 2X to 3X speed-up in overall turnaround time. This release also introduces new technology that speeds design closure including improved timing, variation-aware clock-tree synthesis, lower power, enhanced DFM, and signoff-quality incremental design-rule checking. With this release, the recently-announced Zroute technology delivering a 10-fold speed-up in routing is now available as a standard feature to all IC Compiler customers.
MIPS Technologies Adds 45nm, 90nm IP Cores to HDMI Portfolio
MIPS Technologies, Inc. Agilent, Altair Speed Development of Mobile WiMAX Devices
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) and Altair Semiconductor announced they will collaborate to accelerate the development of Mobile WiMAX devices. The companies plan to optimize the calibration and verification of Altair’s Mobile WiMAX chipset using Agilent’s Wireless Networking Test Set. As a result, handheld-device manufacturers implementing Altair’s Mobile WiMAX chipset will be able to quickly and efficiently test and verify their Mobile WiMAX devices.
Agilent Develops Fastest Signal Integrity Circuit Simulator

NXP Launches LPC3130, LPC3131 ARM9 MCUs with 480Mbps USB 2.0 OTG
NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, announced the introduction of the LPC3130 and LPC3131 as the industry’s lowest cost ARM9 microcontrollers with High Speed (480Mbps) USB 2.0 On-The-Go (OTG). The NXP LPC3130 combines a High Speed USB 2.0 OTG, including PHY, and dedicated PLL, 180 MHz ARM926EJ, 96KB SRAM, NAND flash controller, flexible external bus interface, four channel 10-bit A/D and a myriad of serial and parallel interfaces in a single chip targeted at consumer, industrial, medical, and communication markets. The LPC3130 has a very flexible Clock Generation Unit (CGU) that provides dynamic clock gating and scaling optimizing the system for low power.
Aldec Introduces Active-HDL 8.1 for FPGA Designs
