Addonics Technologies Rolls Out Portable Dual Drive Enclosure

Addonics Technologies announced its Portable Dual Drive Enclosure, a palm size storage solution that accommodates up to two 2.5" SATA hard drives with "push button" RAID support. With the Portable Dual Drive Enclosure users can easily install up to two 2.5" SATA hard drives of 9mm - 9.5mm height. Up to four Compact Flash cards can also be used in the enclosure with an optional Addonics SATA-CF hard disk adapter to create a portable and shock-resistant SSD (Solid State Drive).

The Addonics Portable Dual Drive Enclosure comes bundled with DriveClone, a disk cloning and back up software. The enclosure has a built-in backup button that can be configured to provide the convenience of one button back up of any critical files or folders. The Addonics enclosure supports FAST (RAID-0 Striping), SAFE (RAID-1 Mirroring), JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks), BIG (Concatenation), SAFE50, SAFE33, or GUI mode using built-in hardware RAID.

Installing drives into the enclosure is done by simply removing the front cover, inserting the two drives into the open slots and securing the drives by recapping the front cover.

The Portable Dual Drive Enclosure has a built-in eSATA and USB 2.0/1.1 interfaces to the computer. It can be powered through the USB port for notebook portability or an AC power adapter, which is included. Addonics also includes USB and eSATA connecting cables.

Operating system support includes DOS, Windows 98SE, Me, NT (eSATA cable only), 2000, XP, Vista, Linux (Kernel 2.4 and above), Solaris 10, Mac OS X 10.4.x.

The sturdy aluminum body of the Portable Dual Drive Enclosure (Part Number AE25RDESU) measures just 5.24 (L) x 2.27 (W) x 1.3 (D) inches and weighs 7.1 ounces. The MSRP of the enclosure is $99.99.
