Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) introduced the new UltraPin800[tm] high density digital instrument, which extends the parallel test efficiency of the UltraFLEX[tm] test system. With twice as many pins than the previous generation product, the 128-digital pin instrument supports full test capability up to 800Mbps. In the first three months of production, the UltraPin800 has been used by multiple customers for RF SOC, optical disk drive, digital television, graphics processor and audio processor applications. Teradyne has delivered more than 100 UltraPin800 instruments to customers in North America, Europe and Asia.
“Teradyne led the way in understanding what a major role cost of test would play in the device test industry. Several years ago they started promoting lower cost of test and have been consistent in delivering products that reduce costs for their customers,” said G. Dan Hutcheson, CEO, VLSI Research. “The new UltraPin800 instrument is another great example of how Teradyne delivers on lower cost of test. Their new digital instrument delivers double site count with DIB compatibility, double pin density and an overall longer asset life due to data rate advantages.”
The UltraPin800 digital instrument features up to 256 M Vector Memory, 800 Mbps performance and digital source and capture capability, which reduces test program development time and increases multisite throughput for a wide range of digital and mixed signal devices. Providing unmatched throughput and parallel test efficiency by leveraging the proven Sync-Link[tm] architecture of the FLEX® family of test systems, the UltraPin800 was designed to support multisite testing and is now in production supporting 16-site parallel test of mixed signal SOCs, with efficiency greater than 97%.
“The UltraFLEX and its portfolio of high density digital instrumentation allows us to offer even more cost effective solutions for a broad range of SOC devices,” said Gregory Smith, manager of Teradyne’s Broadband and Computing Business Unit. “The UltraPin800 demonstrates our commitment to providing customers with an industry-leading combination of technical capability, lowest cost of test and multisite test efficiency. In addition, the compatibility of the UltraPin800 to existing UltraFLEX products will help our customers minimize the cost and disruption of a product transition.”
