Xilinx Powers Photron FASTCAM MH4-10K High Speed Camera

Altera Launches DSP Builder Tool 8.0

Targeting high-performance digital signal processing (DSP) designs, Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) announced its DSP Builder tool version 8.0, featuring second-generation model-based synthesis technology. This technology allows DSP designers for the first time to automatically generate timing-optimized RTL code based on high-level Simulink design descriptions. With this new DSP Builder feature, designers can achieve high-performance design implementations, running at near-peak FPGA performance, in a matter of minutes. This is a significant productivity savings compared to the hours, if not days, required to hand-optimize HDL code.

Flash-based LatticeXP2 Automotive FPGA Meets AEC-Q100 Standard

Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) announced that automotive versions of its non-volatile 90nm Flash-based LatticeXP2[tm] FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Array) have been characterized and qualified to meet the certification requirements of the AEC-Q100 standard as defined by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC). Designated the LA (“Lattice Automotive”)-LatticeXP2 family, these production released devices join Lattice’s four previously announced automotive LA versions of the MachXOÔ Crossover Programmable Logic Devices, ispPAC®-POWR1014/A Programmable Power Manager Devices, ispMACH® 4000V and ispMACH 4000Z CPLDs. Production quantities of the new LA-LatticeXP2 devices will be available by the fourth quarter of 2008, and Lattice can provide standard PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation now to automotive customers who require it.

Vishay Introduces CSM2512S Surface Mount Power Metal Strip Resistor

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced a new high-precision Bulk Metal® surface-mount Power Metal Strip® resistor that features an improved load-life stability of ±0.05% at +70°C for 2000 hours at rated power, an absolute TCR of ±15PPM/°C from -55°C to +125°C, +25°C Ref., and a tolerance of ±0.1%. Typical current sensing resistors offer a load-life stability of =0.5% through a 1000-hour workload. The improved resistance stability of the CSM2512S makes it ideal for tightened-stability voltage division and precision current sensing applications in switching linear power supplies, power amplifiers, measurement instrumentation, bridge networks, and medical and test equipment. In addition, the CSM2512S complies with EEE-INST-002 (MIL-PRF 55342 and MIL-PRF 49465) for military and space applications.

Vishay Unveils IHLP-2020BZ-01 High Current Inductor in 2020 Case Size

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced a new IHLP® low-profile, high-current inductor in the 2020 case size. The compact IHLP-2020BZ-01 offers a 5.18-mm by 5.49-mm footprint and ultra-low 2.0-mm profile, with a high maximum frequency and standard inductance values from 0.1µH through 10µH. With a frequency range up to 5MHz, the new IHLP inductor serves as a high-performing, space- and power-saving solution for voltage regulator module (VRM) and dc-to-dc converter applications in end products including next-generation mobile devices; notebooks, desktop computers, servers, graphic cards, portable gaming devices, personal navigation systems, personal multimedia devices, and automotive systems; low-profile, high-current power supplies and point of load (POL) converters; distributed power systems; and field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).

Vishay Debuts Hermetically Sealed VHP203 Miniature Z-Foil Resistor

To meet the demand for long-term performance in high-reliability applications, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) introduced the new hermetically sealed VHP203 miniature ultra-high-precision Z-Foil resistor. The new device provides a low absolute TCR of ±0.05ppm/°C from 0°C to +60°C and ±0.2ppm/°C from -55°C to +125°C, +25°C Ref, an excellent power coefficient (“R due to self heating”) of ±5ppm at rated power, a tolerance of ±0.001% (10ppm), and a load-life stability of ±0.002% (20ppm).
