Timesys Corporation®, a premier provider of embedded Linux software solutions, and Logic Embedded Product Solutions group , a leading supplier of product-ready System on Modules (SOMs), easy to use development kits, and single board computers today announced a strategic alliance that will provide developers with embedded Linux support for select Logic SOMs via Timesys’ LinuxLink. LinuxLink web-based software subscriptions for the Logic i.MX27 and i.MX31 development kits are currently available online.
The LinuxLink subscriptions provide developers with a complete embedded Linux platform that has been integrated and tested for select Logic SOMs and their associated ZoomTM LV Development Kits. Each LinuxLink provides access to a regularly updated set of Linux components, including an optimized kernel, full suite of device drivers, GNU toolchain, initial root filesystem, and over 500 pre-compiled glibc/uClibc packages. When combined with the TimeStorm development environment and ongoing support, LinuxLink subscribers can quickly boot, customize, and test an embedded Linux platform on Logic SOMs. LinuxLink utilizes a web-based delivery model to ensure that customers always have access to the latest Linux components from a trusted source.
“Logic is pleased to have found a strategic software partner, Timesys, to support our customers’ Linux product requirements,” said Michael Erickson, director of software products for Logic. “The professional development tools and support for Linux allows customers to evaluate the Logic SOM capabilities and develop their solution with less cost and risk.”
“We are very excited to provide embedded Linux support for Logic SOMs,” stated Greg Quiggle, vice president of marketing for Timesys. “Their easy to use development kits are extremely popular among the embedded community. With LinuxLink support, project teams will have an ideal hardware/software development environment to reduce time to market and associated project risks.”
Timesys plans to release LinuxLink support for additional Logic SOMs throughout the remainder of 2008.
