TechInsights Announces Embedded Power Conference

TechInsights announced the debut of the Embedded Power Conference, September 17 and 18 at the Marriott Hotel in San Jose. The conference will address the critical power management issues that systems-level design engineers are facing such as excessive heat generated by today’s high-powered systems, how software can increase efficiency and ways to save money by enhancing power/energy density and new solutions available.

The Embedded Power Conference will be organized into four educational tracks, including:

  • Software: using software algorithms to reduce power; digital power techniques
  • Managing heat: cooling options; proper airflow; thermal modeling; temperature sensing
  • System-level and backplane supply power issues: hot-swap; distributed power; supplying multiple voltages
  • Circuit-level power issues: increase power efficiency; minimize switching losses; power-estimation

Sponsors for the event include: Intel (www.intel.com) (Platinum Sponsor), National Semiconductor Corporation (www.national.com)(Gold Sponsor) and Actel (www.actel.com) (Gold Sponsor). Media sponsors for the Embedded Power Conference include Planet Analog (www.planetanalog.com), Power Management DesignLine (www.powermanagementdesignline.com), and Embedded Systems Design.

Bill Schweber, Editor, PlanetAnalog.com, Embedded Power Conference Chair, comments, “While there is a lot of interest in low-power and battery applications, there are huge markets where the system has an AC-line source, and is consuming tens of watts and more. For these situations, the design challenges are overall efficiency, thermal issues, packaging and system modeling. This event addresses the needs of the engineer designing for AC-line-powered applications, where the primary issue is not available power, but managing these applications and preventing excessive overheating are the concerns.”
