Valicore Technologies, a leading developer of cryptographic security solutions, announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with jNet Technology, Inc., a Silicon Valley smart card technology provider. Valicore will partner with jNet on porting the jNet Java Virtual Machine and Global Platform protocol technology to additional processors for high performance smart cards, authentication tokens and other embedded security processor applications.
“In jNet, we’ve found a solid strategic partner that can provide an exceptional card-level OS and a well-established protocol stack, which will give us the ability to create a broad array of portfolio technologies with which to build powerful security solutions for our clients,” said Greg Powell, president and chief executive officer, Valicore. “While extensively used in low cost payment card applications, the jNet technology also forms a strong basis for high-end security applications based on sophisticated embedded security processors,” Powell added.
“Valicore has established a well-deserved reputation for delivering robust embedded system security solutions that emphasize value, quality, and rapid time to market, and we are pleased to be working with such a recognized leader. We hope that with Valicore as a partner, we’ll leverage their expertise in taking some of our flagship products through Common Criteria and FIPS certifications,” said Mikhail Friedland, jNet president and chief executive officer.
Based in San Jose, Calif., jNet specializes in Java Virtual Machine design, Global Platform and Multos implementations for National ID and e-Passport markets, and secure crypto library integrated into all of its Global Platform-based products. jNet products are based on advanced and secure RISC processors designed from the ground up for sensitive smart card applications. jNet’s Global Platform solutions take advantage of these sophisticated chips to deliver highly secure and fast implementations. jNet’s crypto library offers a wide variety of services ranging from existing algorithms such as DES/3DES, RSA, SHA-1/MD5 to most advanced crypto algorithms such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography). The company also offers its consulting services in the area of Java Card and Multos applet development for a variety of loyalty, health, ID, electronic cash, and other embedded security areas.
