Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII) introduced the XBee-PRO® XSC, a powerful, cost-effective 900 MHz embedded RF module that provides up to 15 miles RF line-of-sight transmission in the postage-stamp sized XBee form factor. Customers can now choose 802.15.4, ZigBee and long-range point-to-multipoint platforms in the XBee form factor.
“Adding a 900 MHz XBee provides customers with a tremendous amount of flexibility,” said Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. “The increased range allows OEMs to deploy simple hub-and-spoke networks over wider distances without using additional repeater nodes. And as all XBee modules share a common form factor and software interface, customers can quickly change radio technologies.”
The XBee-PRO XSC is ideal for wireless solutions requiring long-range performance in a cost-optimized, easy-to-deploy module solution. Compatible with certain variants of Digi’s XStream® family of wireless modems and modules, the XBee-PRO XSC is appropriate for use as a pure cable replacement for simple serial communication or as part of a more complex hub-and-spoke network. Digi offers a complete range of Drop-in Networking box products that use the XBee form factor. Therefore the XBee XSC is compatible with Digi gateways that provide XBee-to-Ethernet, Wi-Fi and cellular functionality as well as adapters that provide XBee-to-serial, analog I/O and digital I/O functionality.
The XBee-PRO XSC is available now for $57.40 in 1,000-unit pricing, with development kits available for $149.
