HVVi Develops New Architecture for Silicon RF Power Transistor Design
HVVi Semiconductors, Inc., a developer of power transistors, announced the first major advance in silicon RF power transistor design in more than 15 years. Based on the world's first High Frequency, High Voltage Vertical Field Effect Transistor (HVVFET(TM)), HVVi's new architecture delivers frequency bandwidth, voltage and power levels to radar and avionic applications that far exceed the capabilities of current bipolar and LDMOS technologies. This revolutionary new patent-pending technology allows HVVi to achieve performance levels comparable to non-silicon technologies at much more attractive cost levels.

Profits Fall for Top 5 Handset Vendors
The Strategy Analytics Wireless Device Strategies service report, "Rich Media Specialists Increase Share Of Global $19 Billion Profits," reveals falling profits for the traditional top five handset vendors. Their share of industry profits has fallen from 92% in 2004 to 84% in 2007. In addition, Global ASPs have fallen at a 7% CAGR through 2007. The market catalyst vendors realize ASPs that are on average 250% higher than the industry average.
Berkeley Design Automation Debuts Noise Analysis Tool for Analog, RF ICs
Berkeley Design Automation, Inc., provider of Precision Circuit Analysis(tm) technology for advanced analog and RF integrated circuits (ICs), announced the availability of the industry's first comprehensive noise analysis tool for complex analog and RF circuits. The tool, called the Noise Analysis Option(tm), handles every type of complex analog and RF circuit, including all analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), phase-locked loops (PLLs), DC:DC converters, frequency synthesizers, and voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs). Leveraging Berkeley Design Automation award-winning Analog FastSPICE(tm) and RF FastSPICE(tm) technology, the Noise Analysis Option is fully compatible with existing flows, produces true SPICE accurate results, and is already silicon proven.
