ABI Research Publishes Wi-Fi IC Market Share Analysis and Forecasts

New market data released by ABI Research shows that about 440 million Wi-Fi chipsets will be shipped over the course of 2008. This represents a tenfold increase over the number shipped in 2003; but over the same five-year period, the revenues they produced have multiplied by only five.

CommAgility Debuts AMC-D1F1-1200 Module for DSP-FPGA Signal Processing

CommAgility announced its AMC-D1F1-1200, a high-performance mid-size AdvancedMC module which includes a Texas Instruments (TI) TMS320C6455 digital signal processor (DSP) running at 1.2 GHz and a Virtex-4 FX100 FPGA from Xilinx. The new AMC-D1F1-1200 module is optimized for applications requiring high-end signal I/O bandwidth in a compact mid-height AMC form factor, such as wireless baseband, image processing, defense and aerospace. Using the fastest available DSP with a large FPGA enables an application to be balanced and optimized for the most effective use of resources and development time.

Lockheed Selects LDRA Tool Suite for Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle

Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMCO) has selected the LDRA tool suite to enable developers on the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) program to achieve its software development goals. Aimed at safely transferring astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS), the Moon, Mars and other destinations beyond low earth orbit (LEO), the Orion CEV is a state-of-the-art human space flight system. Design Automation Conference Announces Keynote Speakers

The Design Automation Conference (DAC) has announced the three keynote speakers for the 45th DAC. Justin R. Rattner, Chief Technology Officer, Intel, a Vice President and an Intel Senior Fellow, will deliver the opening keynote on Tuesday, June 10 on "EDA for Digital, Programmable, Multi-Radios." On Wednesday, June 11, Dr. Sanjay K. Jha, Chief Operating Officer and President, Qualcomm CDMA Technologies Group will make his keynote presentation on "Challenges on Design Complexities for Advanced Wireless Silicon Systems." The final keynote speaker, Jack Little, President and a co-founder of The MathWorks, will present "Idea to Implementation: A Different Perspective on System Design" on Thursday, June 12. DAC will be held June 8 - 12, 2008 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif.
