CoFluent Design Rolls Out Studio v.2.2 for ESL Modeling, Simulation

CoFluent Design, an electronic system level (ESL) company that delivers state-of-the-art software solutions for early system architecture exploration and performance analysis, announced version 2.2 of CoFluent Studio(tm) which provides advanced capabilities for modeling wireless, telecommunications and networking systems.

These modeling capabilities are unavailable in SystemC. CoFluent Studio 2.2 will be demonstrated at the Design, Automation & Test in Europe conference in Munich, Germany, from March 10 to 14.

CoFluent Studio offers the ability to model a large number of simultaneous communications, such as numerous terminals connected to a network of bases stations, with the multiple instantiation of a unique model. Version 2.2 adds new modeling capabilities for dynamically managing functions.

Management primitives include start, stop, suspend and resume of functions.

“These dynamic management features are essential to model behaviors of systems that adapt to their changing environment, such as a mobile terminal switching from a 3G, WiFi or Wimax network depending on its geographical location,” says Jean-Paul Calvez, CoFluent Design’s Chief Technical Officer. “Applications such as software-defined radio can’t be modeled without dynamic management functions, as proven in recent beta customer experiences.”

Dynamic function management enables modeling multiple use-cases that can be dynamically activated and stopped according to different scenarios. This corresponds to the evolution of mobile terminals and multimedia devices towards multiple dynamic functions and reconfigurable applications and platforms.

Dynamic function management is necessary to efficiently and effectively represent dynamic thread management behavior, commonly found in electronic systems. It is especially adapted to model and simulate the lifecycle of threads and processes that are dynamically created and stopped in embedded real-time software applications.

Availability
CoFluent Studio v2.2 is available first quarter 2008.

This version will be demonstrated at the CoFluent Booth at DATE Conference in Munich, Germany, from March 10 to 14.

CoFluent Design is also sponsoring a panel at DATE on ESL solutions for power prediction in wireless system design. Panelists include representatives from Nokia, NXP Semiconductors, STMicroelectronics and Texas Instruments.
