Gleichmann Presents NEC 15.3-inches TFT Display with 16:9 Format

The 16:9 format is not yet established in industrial use. Most applications for process visualization or presentation of images are still designed with 4:3 format. Nonetheless, the interest for such displays is constantly growing, because the 16:9 format is more natural to the human eye’s field of vision and therefore offers an enormous variety of applications.

NEC Electronics takes this development into account with an innovative 15.3-inches (39 cm diagonal) TFT display with 16:9 format. Gleichmann Electronics presents at embedded world 2008 in Nuremberg, Booth 235 in Hall 9, the 15.3 inches TFT display, part number NL12876BC26-25, which is based on Super-Advanced Super Fine TFT (SA-SFT) technology. This technology is a further development, specifically for industrial requirements, of In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology. The SA-SFT technology guarantees a viewing angle of 85° typical on all four sides (up, down, right and left) without color reversal or color shift. The display can therefore be mounted horizontally, vertically or even be rotated 180 degrees.

NEC NL12876BC26-25 15.3-inches TFT Display with 16:9 FormatThe panel is characterized by a high transmission and consequently a high luminance of 470 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 700:1, a very short (for this technology) response time of 25 ms and an extended operating temperature of -10°C to +70°C. Power consumption of the display, which is equipped with four cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs),is only 18.0 W. The NL12876BC26-25 is controlled via an 8-bit LVDS interface.

Because of the excellent technical features of the NL12876BC26-25, it can be used in many applications. Typical applications include: visualization tasks in industrial automation, point of information terminals (POI) and entertainment applications. Due to long-term availability (from experience, more than four years) and the very wide viewing angle, the NL12876BC26-25 is also suitable for use in medical monitoring devices.

For each respective field of application, Gleichmann Electronics offers a comprehensive range of accessories such as: suitable inverters, cable forms, touch systems and controller cards, both for analog RGB and video applications.

About Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH
Since its foundation in 1979, Gleichmann & Co. Electronics GmbH, in the same company group with MSC Vertriebs GmbH, has established itself as one of the leading pan European distributors of electronic components. One of the reasons for the high acceptance by customers and suppliers is the company’s early focus on comparatively few, highly sophisticated products such as microcontrollers, programmable logic devices, graphic displays and customized battery solutions. The deep technical know-how of our sales engineers and field applications engineers enable us to implement complete new designs right up to the manufactured product to satisfy customers’ requests. Owning two ASIC design centers, a research laboratory and one of Europe’s largest, state-of-the-art programming facilities, Gleichmann & Co Electronics GmbH leads the way in custom design services.
