The 21st International VLSI Conference and the 7th International Embedded systems Conference from January 4 – 8 opened on Friday. The Conference is expected to draw more than 1000 VLSI and Embedded Systems Experts, Researchers, Scientists, Academicians, 2000 student delegates, exhibits from worlds leading product companies, a who’s who of leaders and visionaries who will help shape discussions around the industry’s hottest topic “Challenges in the new Nano Technology” Era. The Honable chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will be the chief guest for the first of its kind International Student conference that will open on January 6, 2008.
The opening keynote speech was delivered by Dirk Meyer, President and COO, AMD, after the formal inauguration of the meet on Saturday, followed by Plenary Keynote Address by Wally Rhines, CEO, Mentor Graphics – About new paradigm with in India – why experience is sometimes a bottleneck. The 5 day conference is packed with power packed keynote speeches that include Alain Artieri, Senior System Architect, ST Microelectronics, France who will address the System design challenges and solutions for future Nanoscale process technologies and Anantha Chandrakasan, MIT Design covering the topic on Considerations for Next Generation Micro-Power Systems.
“The International VLSI conference enters 21st year bringing together leading Nano and VLSI experts from the global industry offering a wide range of technical and technology sessions addressing fresh challenges in the hot Nano technology sector,” said Dasaradha R Gude, General Chair, VLSI Conference in Hyderabad. “With a wide range of conference tracks, technical programs, design contests and the first ever International student conference, the Conference remains the foremost International technology exchange forum for VLSI and Embedded System experts worldwide and gives our participants an unparalleled opportunity to meet, interact, network and share their ideas with the best minds in the industry.”
For the first time the organizers of International VLSI Conference have organized an international Student Conference offering an unique opportunity for close to 2000 Student delegates who can actively take part in a series of technology and product presentations during the 5 days. The conference also features a “Student Design Contest” covering two categories “operational” and “conceptual designs” for graduates and undergraduates which was designed to promote excellence in the design of electronics systems in universities and educational establishments by providing a venue for students to showcase their designs.
The 5 day conference will feature a three-day technical program from January 6-8, 2008 including power packed keynote and plenary talks from world leaders, notable CEO’s, high-quality technical paper presentations that reflect the state-of-the-art in VLSI Design and Embedded Systems in addition to embedded tutorials, a panel discussion, and a parallel track for industry forum.
Addressing the Students who are participating at the International Student Conference organized for the first time in the conference history, J A Chowdary, General Chair, VLSI Committee 2008 said ” We pleased to announce that a number of engineering students have registered for the first of its kind International Student Conference. We strongly hope that the students will take full advantage of this unique opportunity to get more information and understanding of VLSI Technology, Embedded Systems, experience their unique value and what the future demands from them.”
Since the first conference held in 1985, the annual conference has grown into a leading international conference on VLSI design, which draws around 700 attendees from India and abroad every year. Apart from power packed keynote speech and plenary sessions leading EDA and IT companies will be displaying their products from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during January 6-8, 2008 at the technical exhibition and industry forum. Vendor presentations and panel discussion on industry on emerging VLSI and Embedded systems topics will take the center stage over a separate parallel track during the three days.
Sponsored by the VLSI Society of India (VSI) and IEEE among others, the joint conference is a forum for researchers and designers to present and discuss various aspects of VLSI design, Electronic Design Automation (EDA), enabling technologies, and embedded systems. It covers the entire gamut of activities under the two arms of the semiconductor industry; namely VLSI, and embedded systems.
About International Conference on VLSI
The International Conference on VLSI Design was started in 1985, as a small workshop at IIT Madras, under the visionary guidance of Dr. Vishwani Agrawal of Auburn University, and Prof. H.N. Mahabala of IIT Madras. From this modest beginning, it has grown into a leading international conference on VLSI design, which draws around 700 attendees from India and abroad every year. The IEEE Computer Society Press, USA, prints the proceedings. The conference is dedicated to all aspects of integrated circuit design, technology, and related computer-aided design (CAD).
