Elma Electronic Announces 2nd Generation AdvancedTCA Handle

Posted by EDA Geek News Staff in Components on Thursday, December 20, 2007

Elma Electronic Inc., a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products, has announced a 2nd Generation AdvancedTCA (ATCA) handle that does not require assembly. The one-piece handle simply has two screws to attach it to the panel/PCB.

Most ATCA handles in the industry have several small components that need to be assembled, which can be tricky and time-consuming. The Elma ATCA handles are one piece, greatly reducing assembly time, which can be a hidden cost. Assembly time is one of the biggest complaints of ATCA board vendors who use various vendors' handles. Further, the handle's alignment pin is also part of the handle mold, which makes it much more sturdy and increases drop-test survivability.

The Elma ATCA handle is engaged/disengaged with a unique slide-motion solution. This prevents the handle to being accidentally tripped or bumped into and broken. The slide-motion switch pops the handles open about 30 degrees and activates the micro-switch. This allows the user to grab the handle easily and maximize leverage.

The lead-time is stock to 2 weeks. For more information on Elma's ATCA handles, call 510-656-3400.
