Visage Imaging Teams with Agfa HealthCare

Posted by Ken Cheung in Embedded Systems on Monday, November 26, 2007

Visage Imaging, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY), announced a worldwide integration agreement with Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, based in Belgium.

Agfa HealthCare will integrate the Visage(TM) CS Thin Client/Server into its IMPAX(TM) product line in order to provide enterprise-wide advanced visualization capabilities based on 3D thin-client technology. This integrated solution ensures that large image data volumes can reside entirely on the central server, and interactive 3D and 4D viewing and post-processing can be performed from any client computer using an innovative thin-client streaming technology. Because of the tight integration of IMPAX and Visage CS, large 3D and 4D images become instantly accessible at the click of a mouse within the PACS workflow, throughout the entire healthcare enterprise.

“Our collaboration with Visage Imaging enables us to achieve increased performance levels for loading and viewing large studies such as multi-slice CT throughout the hospital enterprise, fully integrated into the workflow of our radiology and image management solutions,” said Erkan Akyuz, General Manager RIS/PACS at Agfa HealthCare. “Our customers can deploy this new enterprise visualization option easily and with minimal administrative effort, taking advantage of the existing RIS/PACS infrastructure.”

Visage CS integrated into IMPAX provides breathtaking performance for data access as well as for different visualization techniques such as multi-planar reformatting (MPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), and volume rendering. Furthermore, a rich set of integrated tools enable efficient viewing, post-processing, and quantitative analysis for applications such as CT and MR angiography and cardiac CT.

“We are very pleased to announce our relationship with Agfa, a world leader in Healthcare IT and PACS,” said Marcelo Lima, President at Visage Imaging. “Our 3D thin-client solution will enhance the enterprise visualization capabilities of Agfa’s product portfolio. We look forward to a very productive, long-term relationship.”
