ADLINK Releases GEME-42000 Compact Embedded Controller

ADLINK Technology Inc., announces the release of the new GEME-42000, a low-cost compact PC-based controller for low-power, embedded applications. The GEME-42000 is equipped with an Intel® Ultra Low Voltage Celeron® M processor (1.0 GHz) and up to 1 GB DDR333 RAM, and can be controlled from remote locations and run continuously in critical applications including machine tools and digital video capture.

Arrow, Telit Offer Machine-to-Machine Communications Seminar

Avnet to Distribute Emerson Network Power’s Power Supplies

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), and Avnet Electronics Marketing, an operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), have signed a global distribution partnership. Under the terms of the new agreement, Avnet will distribute – on a global basis – the full line of standard and modified standard ac-dc and dc-dc power supplies produced by the Embedded Power business of Emerson Network Power, which encompasses the Astec and Artesyn branded products.

IEEE Gives Control Systems Award to Dr. Lennart Ljung

Strategic Test Introduces Digitizer, Oscilloscope PCI Express Cards

Strategic Test Corp has announced two new 8-bit digitizer / oscilloscope PCI Express cards. The UF2e-2020 has two 50 MS/s channels, while the UF2e-2021 has four 50 MS/s. Each channel has its own 8-bit ADC for simultaneous sampling, seven programmable input voltage ranges from ±50 mV to ± 5 V, offset adjustment to 400% and both 50 Ohm and 1 MOhm input impedances. Unique features of the UF2e-2020 and UF2e-2021 include the option for dual-timebase sampling, synchronous digital inputs, asynchronous digital I/O and the ability to synchronize up to 542 channels.

ZMD Unveils RBic-Lite Resistive Bridge Sensor Signal Conditioning IC

TI, Arrow Announce Webcast: Selecting the Right Isolation Solution

ABI Research Publishes Report on Google’s Android, Mobile Linux

The spread of Linux into the mobile environment will face significant barriers, including vertical fragmentation due to the lack of complete stack, and horizontal fragmentation (the result of many bodies developing solutions in parallel). Both aspects have made it very difficult for device vendors, carriers, and third-party software developers to justify vast investment in platform development, but Google’s Android may be the solution.

Ford’s SYNC In-car System Features CSR BlueCore4-ROM Bluetooth

CSR (LSE: CSR) announced that its BlueCore4-ROM Bluetooth silicon features in Ford’s in-car communications and entertainment system called SYNC. As well as offering hands free operation of personal media players (PMPs), CSR’s technology allows SYNC users full hands free operation of Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, to make calls and access music. Ford’s SYNC will be fully integrated into twelve Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, including the 2008 Focus, Taurus X and Explorer. By the end of next year it will be available, or standard, in nearly every Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicle.
