HomePlug, Panasonic Submit MAC/PHY Proposal to IEEE P1901 Work Group

The HomePlug® Powerline Alliance announced that the joint proposal, submitted by HomePlug member companies and Panasonic®, is the sole MAC/PHY proposal remaining in the IEEE P1901 work group process for creating an international standard for in-home and access powerline communication technologies. At a meeting held two weeks ago in Boston, the voting process implemented by members of the IEEE P1901 work group voted to support the HomePlug/Panasonic proposal over competing proposals, paving the way for industry unification and greater market growth.

CSR Creates Music'n'Voice USB Bluetooth Dongle Reference Design

CSR has launched a USB Bluetooth dongle design that will enable stereo or mono Bluetooth headphones to be used with a PC for Voice over IP (VoIP) calls, as well as the wireless streaming of music. CSR has designed the low cost Music'n'Voice (MV) Bluetooth dongle to allow users to switch seamlessly between listening to music and taking a VoIP call. The MV Dongle design is available now from CSR, including BOM, reference design and software development kit (SDK).

Lime Microsystems Debuts Reference Design for MicroTCA WiMAX Transceiver

Lime Microsystems, a fabless semiconductor company specialising in digitally configurable transceivers for the next generation of wireless broadband systems, has launched the world's first reference design for a MicroTCA broadband wireless transceiver. Targeted at small cell WiMAX base station applications - femtocells and picocells - the transceiver has 6 user-selectable channel bandwidths from 1.5MHz to 14 MHz and can be digitally configured to operate in bands from 2 to 4GHz.

Wind River VxWorks RTOS Supports Symmetric Multiprocessing
