Raza Microelectronics®, Inc. (RMI®), a leading supplier of processors for communications and consumer applications, announced that Sophia Mobile, a leader in multimedia infotainment devices for automotive and consumer markets, has selected the RMI Alchemy Au1250 Processor for its first full-featured PMP mobile phone with touch screen display.
The Sophia Nani, unveiled at the Wireless Japan 2007 event in July, is a full-featured PMP phone that integrates multimedia capabilities including Wi-Fi, camera, TV tuner, and Video. Powered by Microsoft Windows CE 5.0, the Nani features a 4.3″ touch screen display with resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, Dual Cameras (VGA in front, SVGA in the rear), and a fully integrated digital TV tuner as well as a GPS navigation system.
“Sophia Mobile recognizes RMI as a key supplier and believes that the Alchemy Au1250 Processor provides the performance, power optimization and levels of integration necessary for us to deliver innovative technologies to PMP phone markets,” commented Kosuke Shibayama, chief executive officer, Sophia Mobile, Inc. “We feel that RMI’s current offerings and its roadmap provide us with the tools for successful integrated devices.”
The RMI Alchemy Au1250, the processor of choice for full-featured Portable Media Players (PMP), navigation and mobile devices, is a high-performance, low-power processor capable of delivering a rich multi-media experience to end users. The Alchemy Au1250 gives system designers an easy-to-use, simple solution to create full-featured portable solutions with greatly reduced design cycle times. The System-on-a-Chip (SoC) architecture integrates with the widest number of peripheral components on the market, resulting in a significant reduction in total bill of materials.
“Being chosen by Sophia Mobile is testimony to our success in the consumer market space and continues to show the strength of the Au1250 Processor family,” said Mike Wodopian, vice president and general manager, Alchemy Solutions at RMI. “We have been confident in the design, power and versatility of the Au1250. This is demonstrated by its performance in Sophia’s new, full-featured PMP.”
RMI’s products push the edge of processor technology in performance and integration and are used by system and original equipment manufacturers to quickly respond to changing market needs. The company’s XLR, XLS, Alchemy, and Orion processor families span a broad performance spectrum up to complex, highly-integrated, multi-core designs incorporating hundreds of millions of transistors and built on leading-edge silicon process technologies.
