Lambda Shrinks KPSA PCB Mountable AC-DC Power Supplies

Posted by Ken Cheung in Components on Friday, October 26, 2007

The latest generation of KPS PCB mountable AC-DC power supplies from Lambda, the KPSA Series, has undergone a further shrink to meet demand for ever more diminutive, lightweight AC-DC supplies in fields as diverse as factory automation, telecom and datacom, printers and motor drives, and instrumentation.

Lambda has introduced three models: the KPSA-5, the KPSA-10 and the KPSA-15, offering 5, 10 and 15W power levels respectively. Each model is available in a variety of standard output voltages from 3.3V to 24VDC with intermediate voltages available on request.

Lambda KPSA Series PCB Mountable AC-DC Power SuppliesThe input range for the KPSA Series is 85 to 264VAC, 47 to 63Hz or 100 to 370VDC. The KPSA units have been rated for operation in a convection-cooled environment from 0 to 70oC, with appropriate derating.

At 28g and with a package size of 55 x 33 x 21mm for the 5W unit, ranging to just 48g and a compact 70 x 45 x 20mm for the 15W unit, the KPSA variants require less board space, yet are pin compatible with their earlier counterparts. Designers will be pleased to know that no external components are needed for these supplies. Additional features include built in short circuit protection (hiccup mode) and over voltage protection.

The KPSA Series meets EN61000-4 immunity and Class B EMI standards, plus they are safety approved to UL60950-1, CSA60950-1, and EN60950-1. The units are CE marked and RoHS compliant.
