Tail-f Systems and QNX Software Systems announced an alliance to make ConfD network management software available on the QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS). ConfD allows developers of networking equipment to rapidly build carrier-grade network management applications that meet the needs of demanding telecom and enterprise customers. Joint Tail-f and QNX customers will also benefit from the fault resistance and scalability capabilities built into the QNX Neutrino RTOS.
“Tail-f Systems is the clear leader in its field based on our evaluation of network management agent software. The company’s product features and creative use of open standards should provide a solid value proposition to any software system architect,” said Santosh Kumar, Chief Software Architect, Taseon, Inc., a leading-edge networking company developing carrier-grade networking solutions. “We are pleased to see Tail-f working with QNX to deliver its ConfD software on the QNX Neutrino operating system.”
Tail-f’s ConfD software is the only XML-based tool kit that allows developers to automatically render critical northbound interfaces (CLI, Web, NETCONF, and SNMP) from a single data model. ConfD is designed from the ground up to meet the rigorous requirements of carrier-grade networks for performance, scalability, high availability, and security. Customers can choose among different modules of ConfD to extend an existing network management system or to implement new green field applications.
“QNX is excited to work with Tail-f Systems to make their network management software available on the QNX Neutrino RTOS,” said Romain Saha, networking segment manager for QNX Software Systems. “ConfD’s next-generation capabilities, such as high availability and NETCONF, mesh well with our strategy to deliver scalable and resilient solutions to the telecommunications market.”
ConfD now supports the QNX Neutrino RTOS and the QNX Momentics® integrated development environment. Developers building embedded systems with QNX technology benefit from a solution designed for high availability and scalability as well as full complement of essential networking technologies.
“QNX is a leader in realtime OS technology, providing its users with an extremely comprehensive and innovative operating and development environment,” said Carl Moberg, CTO, Tail-f Systems. “We are proud to work with QNX to ensure that its loyal users are able to use ConfD for their network management needs.”
ConfD version 2.3 has been ported to the QNX Neutrino RTOS and is available for evaluation immediately.
