Electronics.ca Publishes Report on Physical Vapor Deposition

Posted by Ken Cheung in Research on Monday, October 22, 2007

ELECTRONICS.CA PUBLICATIONS, the electronics industry market research and knowledge network, announces the availability of a new report entitled “Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD): Global Markets.” The physical vapor deposition (PVD) market has continued to expand over the past several decades. More sophisticated manufacturing and fabrication techniques and smaller size products have broadened the demand for vapor deposited materials. A variety of new and existing products require properties that best can be delivered by vacuum deposition of films on an expanding variety of substrates.

The value of the global PVD industry, according to the new study, will increase from an estimated $9.0 billion to $9.9 billion in 2008. It should reach $16.7 billion in 2013, a compound annual growth rate of 11%. Another essential finding is that PVD equipment will remain the largest market as shipments grow at a compound annual rate of 9.6% to reach an estimated $7.1 billion in 2008. Hence, growth will continue at a CAGR of 10.9% to reach $11.9 billion in 2013.

The microelectronics industry, encompassing semiconductors, components and flat panel displays, represent the largest market for PVD equipment, materials and services.

The report also tackles with technological issues, including important trends and a patent analysis.

PVD industry structure is intelligibly explained in the report, categorized by PVD technology, the basic PVD process, equipment configurations, and technology trends in PVD. To bring a better understanding of the use of PVD, the report takes up various markets, such as the microelectronics market, the storage market, the medical equipment market, and the packaging market.

This new report determines the current status of the worldwide market for PVD equipment, materials deposited and services, and assesses the growth potential of this deposition technology over the period from 2008 to 2013. The report provides a review of the PVD industry’s competitiveness in each sector, and it also examines the advantages of using PVD deposition, of market factors that will impact demand, and of estimated shipments for 2007.

Details of the new report, “Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD): Global Markets” can be found on Electronics.ca Publications’ web site.
