LeCroy® Corporation introduces two M-Type 1 GHz oscilloscopes that provide the highest signal fidelity, most complete measurement capability, and best raw performance in the 1 GHz bandwidth class. Available in the popular WaveRunner® and WaveSurfer® product series, the M-Type oscilloscopes bring LeCroy’s award-winning large display/small footprint, 5 GS/s sampling rate and form factor to 1 GHz oscilloscopes.
Each oscilloscope comes standard with a full set of analysis tools, including WaveScan(TM), an advanced search and analysis feature, WaveStream(TM), a fast viewing mode, and LabNotebook(TM), a unique tool for documentation and report generation. Whether looking at the frequency spectrum, analyzing jitter, or performing mixed signal measurements, the M-Type instruments combine high performance and ease of use with the best tools for understanding and validating a design.
Two models are available in two models. The LeCroy WaveRunner MXi is the most capable oscilloscope available in its class. With a maximum sample rate of 10 Gigasamples/second and a standard 12.5 Mpts/Ch of memory (interleaving to 25 Mpts/Ch), the WaveRunner MXi, can accommodate a variety of analysis tools and application programs, such as Tracks, Histograms, long memory FFTs, user-defined functions, mixed signal options, power device analysis, jitter and timing analysis, and a host of other applications. The X-Stream architecture ensures that memory processing is performed effortlessly, without interfering with the oscilloscope’s operation.
The WaveSurfer MXs offers 5 Gigasamples per second on each channel with 10 Mpts/Ch memory. It emphasizes strong fundamentals for lab and bench oscilloscope use. Advanced triggering helps an engineer find rare events and glitches, while the built-in HDTV trigger speeds the design of new products. The oscilloscope comes complete with an advanced math package, including one million point FFTs.

In addition, all M-Type oscilloscopes are compatible with optional low-speed serial triggering and decode packages to help engineers quickly analyze I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, CAN, LIN and FlexRay protocols through the use of easy to read transparent overlays, search/zoom capabilities, and tabular displays. M-Type oscilloscopes are also hot-plug ready for LeCroy’s 36-channel Mixed Signal Oscilloscope (MSO).
Find it, Understand it — WaveScan Locates Problems Faster
The best trigger won’t find all unusual events – a more powerful capability is needed. LeCroy’s WaveScan provides the ability to locate unusual events in a single capture, or scan for an event in many acquisitions over a long period of time. Users can select from nearly 20 search modes (pulse width, frequency, rise time, runt, duty cycle, etc.), apply a search condition (>, < , in a range, or outside of a range, set a value with limits, etc.), and begin scanning and inspecting unusual events. In a single acquisition, WaveScan will identify the failure with a red box, and list the values in a table. A user can then zoom to view or apply additional analysis tools for complete debugging.
LabNotebook — Instant Report Generation
After tests are performed, LeCroy’s M-Type oscilloscopes simply and easily document results. Saving all displayed waveforms, relevant settings, and screen images is done with a single button, eliminating the need to navigate multiple menus to save all these files independently. LabNotebook also permits customizing reports to fit into any design verification dataset. Once a measurement is made, it’s easy to document and share the information.
