TRANGO Virtual Processors Joins MontaVista Partner Program

TRANGO Virtual Processors, a leading provider of embedded virtualization IP announced that it has joined the partner program of MontaVista Software, Inc., the leading provider of Linux® for intelligent devices and communications infrastructure. TRANGO offers a platform that addresses the consumer electronics and wireless markets by providing both advanced security and a richer end-user experience. The combination of TRANGO scalable security and MontaVista® Mobilinux enables OEMs and ODMs to create flexible, secure, and highly competitive products.

One of the outstanding value-adds of TRANGO’s virtualization IP is the ability to design systems with a heterogeneous software licensing approach. For instance, the TRANGO Hypervisor offers OEMs and ODMs the ability to design systems that deliver the powerful benefits of GPL software while ensuring that proprietary code is strictly isolated and protected. This makes it possible to run MontaVista Linux in parallel with business-critical applications and services, such as secure broadcast, firmware update or e-commerce, fully isolated from each other and fully protected against hardware and software attacks.

TRANGO Virtual Processors will show a mobile phone demo based on MontaVista® Linux® at the MontaVista Vision 2007 Embedded Linux Developers Conference, October 9-10 in Santa Clara, California.

“With the increased focus on security and virtualization by mobile handset manufacturers, we are pleased to work with TRANGO on providing secure mobile solutions to the marketplace,” said Dan Cauchy, director of marketing at MontaVista.

The TRANGO Hypervisor is currently available on single- and multi-core processors and has been ported to the ARMv5/ARMv6 architecture and MIPS32/MIPS64 embedded architectures.
