VirtualLogix(TM), Inc., the Real-Time Virtualization(TM) company, announced a demonstration of its VirtualLogix(TM) VLX for Network Infrastructure platform, which combines existing real-time operation systems (RTOS) with the benefits of MontaVista® Linux® Carrier Grade Edition (CGE), at the MontaVista Vision 2007 Embedded Linux Developers Conference, October 9-10, 2007 in booth 20. In addition, VirtualLogix Director of Product Management Dave Beal will present a session at the event titled “Virtualization in a Carrier-Grade Environment” on Wednesday at 3pm.
VirtualLogix VLX for Network Infrastructure enables developers to easily migrate from single-core to multi-core processors by allowing commercial or proprietary RTOSs and Linux OSs to run unmodified on the Intel Core Microarchitecture — all without disrupting the behavior of their supported applications. Dedicated to delivering the most innovative solutions to the embedded market, VirtualLogix will showcase how its VLX for Network Infrastructure delivers development savings and reduced time to market by re-using existing RTOS code, while maintaining real-time performance and carrier grade quality, as well as scalability across different hardware configurations.
David Beal’s presentation “Virtualization in a Carrier-Grade Environment” will discuss the needs and use cases for virtualization in network infrastructure markets where performance and I/O throughput are key parameters that traditional virtualization solutions are not adequately addressing. Beal will cover how to retain the required performance from real-time operating systems, such as MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition and other commercially deployed RTOSs when they are running within a virtualized, shared physical resource environment.
“As a MontaVista Partner, we look forward to sharing with MontaVista’s embedded developer community the virtualization technology that speeds adoption of Linux while driving down costs,” said Mark Milligan, vice president of marketing for VirtualLogix. “VirtualLogix is helping pave the way for the development of new carrier grade Linux solutions.”
“VirtualLogix is recognized across the network equipment provider industry for the success of its VLX for Network Infrastructure virtualization software platform,” said Dan Cauchy, director of mobile and carrier grade products, MontaVista Software, Inc. “We see a growing need for the VirtualLogix solution for companies combining RTOSs and carrier grade Linux. We look forward to working with VirtualLogix to provide solutions that meet this need.”
